The Dark Knight (2008)
This sequel to the blockbuster Batman Begins picks up a few months after the first movie left off. Batman (Christian Bale) teams up with Captain Gordon join forces with district attorney Harvey Dent to take on the new boss of the Gotham underworld The Joker (Heath Ledger). Several photos of the new Joker have already leaked, and an appearance of Dent's villainous alter-ego Two-Face was cemented in footage shown at Comicon in 2007. Most of the original cast is back, minus Katie Holmes who has been replaced by Maggie Gyllenhaal. Batman has a slew of new gadgets, including a motorcycle based on his tumbler from the first film. The Dark Knight comes out July 18th, 2008.
Justice League (2008)
In 2007 Warner Brothers announced a fast-track production for a Justice League movie. The Justice League is a comic book team of heroes composed of many DC Comics characters. The movie looks to feature many former members including Flash and Wonder Woman (who each have solo movies in the works as well). The plot revolves around a government agency who has stolen Batman's database of superhero weaknesses. It's based on a comic book plot called The OMAC Project from 2006. The Batman and Superman from Batman Begins and Superman Returns will not be portraying those characters, although no casting decisions have been announced. Written and put into production to side-step the writer's strike it should be released sometime in 2008.
Shazam! (2009)
Based on the Fawcett Comics character acquired by DC in the 1970's, Captain Marvel is actually young cub reporter Billy Batson, who with the utterance of the magic word "Shazam!" is transformed into the powerful "big yellow cheese." Written by John August, writer of Go and Big Fish, the only casting that has been confirmed is Dwayne Johnson (aka "The Rock") in the role of Black Adam, a former Captain Marvel and Middle-Eastern prince. Directed by Peter Segal, look for Shazam! to drop in 2009.
Other DC Comics Movies
These aren't the only DC Comics characters with movies in the pipeline. The Metal Men, Green Arrow, The Flash, and Teen Titans all have live-action movie deals in the works. DC Comics movies have also branched out into the animated sector with the DC Universe line of movie. Superman: Doomsday, a re-telling of the death of Superman, was the first offering. Expect Justice League: New Frontier and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract within the next two years.
With the number of movies DC has in the pipeline it is possible that they will equal rival Marvel sometime soon. This competition is good for the final product which is good for fans which is good for DC. Up, up, and away!

Post a Comment@ Schulz spider man was never a official member of the avengers either was wolverine just a honorary member the original members of the avengers were captain america, giantman, thor, wasp, ironman, hulk not spiderman or wolverine neither spiderman or wolverine is going to be in the avengers movie lol you must not read or know much about marvel or the avengers and why is marvel even being discussed on a site for upcoming DC comics movies? seems kinda whats the word...oh yeah retarded
if dc ever hopes to catch marvel they have to do a justice league that is inline with the last cartoon justice league and cast the actors accordingly we cant have a short skinny wonderwoman and superman needs muscles and the suit
DC COMICS SHOULD MAKE MOVIES FOR:
THE ATOM
AQUAMAN
THE FLASH
THE GREEN LANTERN
THE GREEN ARROW
THE JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA
THE LEGION OF SUPER HEROES
SUPERGIRL
WONDER WOMAN
ZANTANNA
I believe it's time for The Flash and Green Lantern movies for the big screen.
The Flash based on Barry Allen
The Green Lantern based on Hal Jordan
DC needs to keep up with Marvel
Also a new Flash tv show should be created to continue where the 1990-1991 series ended with John Wesley Shipp.
I would like to see a film of the green hornet with jet lee.
Ok dumbass first of all its Justice League and the Hulk is in the Avengers not the Justice League. DC=Justice League and Marvel=Avengers
If this next season of smallville is going to be the last one, i would predict that the man who came out of the alien ball in front of the luthor mansion is Darksied. I think it would be awesome for the screen writers to get the whole justice leauge together to defeat him. they already had apperances from most of the justice leauge and others have played big roles in the show such as the green arrow. they really have thier pick as to who they want from all of the apperences that have been made. Canary, green arrow, aqua-man, cyborg, flash, zatana, martian manhunter, and i would love it if they introduced christian bale as batman to complete it.
I would love to see a superman vs. doomsday movie in a real life or cgi production
On another note. Green Lantern is my fav and I am lloking forward to the move. Hal Jordan all the way!!!!!!
I agree that whoever played a character in a move should continue to play them in other movies. However, you will not see the Hulk in the Justice League. Since Justice League is DC (Superman, Batman, Green Lantern) and Hulk is Marvel (Spiderman, Capt. America, Iron Man, Wolverene.) They were the Avengers. Also to be in the works. Just watch past the credits on Hulk and Iron man.
