Upcoming FPS Video Games Releasing in Fall and Winter 2010

The fall and winter seasons means video games are releasing their most anticipated titles for the holidays. 2010's First Person Shooters are no exception. These titles will be on the Christmas lists of many gamers. Here are 5 of the most eagerly awaited FPS video games for the end of 2010.

Halo: Reach (Xbox 360)
Perhaps the most anticipated FPS of 2010, Reach is a prequel to all the Halo games and the last Halo title Bungie will make. It takes place on the planet Reach in the year 2552 as humanity is losing the war with the alien Covenant. The story follows the Spartans of Team Noble as they battle to protect Reach, which is the last defense between the aliens and Earth. Reach features new weapons like the focus sniper rifle, plasma launcher, and the grenade launcher. Multiplayer has been improved from Halo 3. With Forge World, created maps from Bungie will be on the disc. Forge also has improved the tools used to create your own maps. Reach will be released September 14.

Call of Duty: Black Ops
(PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii)
Black Ops, the latest FPS game in the popular CoD series, will take place during the Cold War. In the main campaign, players are behind enemy lines in mission locations such as Vietnam and Cuba. The Call of Duty series is known for its multiplayer experience. In Black ops, Create a Class 2.0 will feature more personalization and custom weapons enhancements. Players will also be able to save and record online play clips. In special editions of the game, four Nazi Zombie maps from World at War will be available. Black ops will be released on November 9.

Medal of Honor (PS3, Xbox 360, PC)
This anticipated reboot of the FPS Medal of Honor series takes place in Afghanistan. This has caused controversy with the multi player. Its a game about war and players can pick either side, including the Taliban. The game play is touted to be very realistic and EA supposedly hired consultants from the US military. In the main campaign, missions are designed to be similar to real military objectives. The multiplayer will include 3 weapons classes and game modes. It will be released on October 12.

Conduit 2
(Wii)
Although the original The Conduit FPS received mixed reviews, the sequel has been completely overhauled. New features include the ability to use tables as cover, more open space to explore, and better graphics. The story continues the events of the first game with Ford waking up after the explosion of the Trust base. The Drudge aliens also return as well as new types of aliens. Multiplayer will include four player split screen and a new co-op mode where players battle through waves of enemies. Conduit 2 will be released this fall.

Time Crisis: Razing Storm
(PS3)
This FPS will be for PlayStation's Move motion controls in addition to being able to use the GunCon3. The disc contains three games, Razing Storm, Deadstorm Pirates, and Time Crisis 4. In addition to the regular arcade modes, there will be a story mode and online multiplayer modes. The on-rail arcade portions include fully destructible environments. The story mode plays more like a traditional FPS with the ability to use cover and move about freely. The multiplayer is eight player deathmatch style. Time Crisis: Razing Storm will released in September.

While many FPS games have been delayed until 2011, there are still plenty that will arrive in time for the holiday season. With Reach, Black Ops, and the PlayStation Move, the fall and winter seasons will see the release of highly anticipated FPS titles.
