Update on Bobbie - Post Surgery

Hospital Recovery Time After Brain Surgery

Teresa Mahieu
Bobbie is doing well with her after surgery recovery. She has been allowed to sit upright in a chair now. She was able to bear her weight on the left leg, this is a very good indicator that the leg is regaining strength. Thursday the surgeon decided to place a filter in the main artery just below her heart to ward off any blood clot problems. A precautionary procedure we are told. A blood clot to the brain would be certain death for Bobbie at this point. The procedure will be relatively simple, they will go through a vein in the leg. This procedure will be done today.

A wonderful call from Tracy this morning, she had full range motion of her left arm and hand for a bit this morning. He said she turned her head and heard a pop sound and lost the arm again. This is ok though as the momentary use of the arm means that
A. It is not paralyzed, and
B. With rehab therapy it is possible she will regain use of the left arm.

It has been suggested that she may need temporary inhospital rehab for a few months so we are looking at possible sites closer to home. With this new development maybe out patient rehab will be enough. One day at a time, is what I keep telling myself and her. She is so impatient at this point. She wants to see her daughter and I plan to take her to see mommy this weekend. It is possible she may be moved out of CCU/ICU today and that is what we were waiting for to take my granddaughter to see her.

Do continue to keep Bobbie in your prayers please and Thank You all so very much.
