Update on Cause for Paws Adoption Center in Logansport Indiana

Update for July 18th 2009

Rebecca Furtado
We had another great Saturday at The Cause for Paws adoption center in the mall in Logansport , Indiana. We had several people make inquiries about our lab mixes and we adopted out two Papillions. One Papillion CJ who has been with the adoption center a very long time found a new home.

Right now we have two great small rat terriers that would make great family pets. They are both house broken and good with kids and other pets. One is my foster dog Isabella who is about three years old and the other is Pete who is four years old. Pete is a very well behaved rat terrier boy who is neutered and current on his shots. He would love to be part of a family with kids to play with. Isabella is a little more active than Pete but she is spayed and ready to join an active family .

We have one new great dog that would make a perfect family pet for someone in the country. Anna is an 11 month old pure bred blood hound. She is extremely sweet and is totally housebroken. Anna is very even tempered and has no bad habits what so ever. She is spayed and current on her shots. This breed slobbers and if you can not tolerate slobber in your house she is not a good match. However, apart from slobbering Anna is pretty much a perfect dog and would be good for a family with a country home.

Soon we will have a small lab mix that was found out wondering up for adoption. He has not been officially named yet but he his very playful and is about a year old . He gets along with other pets and will be neutered before he is adopted out. He should be available for viewing at the adoption center next Saturday.

My pet of the week is a Labradoodle named Cobie. He is about six months old . He needs a fenced yard but would also be great for a family that loves the water. Cobie gets on very well with the other foster dogs he stays with. He loves attention from children Cobie has his own baby pool and like to play in the water. He stays in a crate at night and is learning all the basic obedience commands.

We are overwhelmed with kittens at the moment. We have several different litters at the moment. One litter are some really beautiful stripped tiger kittens that are about six weeks old. We are having an adopt two for one special on kittens and they will be wormed and up on their shots before you take them home. Two kittens from the same or different litter can really enliven any house. Many of these cats are in foster homes with dogs and if you wish to adopt a kitten that tolerates dogs we can direct you to the perfect one for your home.

We have a couple of older litters with kittens about 12 weeks old. These cats all eat dry cat food and have been socialized. We have several nice orange tabby cats that are current on their vaccinations and wormed. We did get a litter of very small black and white kittens that are about only as month old. Their mother died and they have been weaned . They are ready to be adopted sooner than usual because they are orphans.

We are asking for foster homes for individual kittens. Many are being fostered with their litter mates ,but would benefit from being fostered and socialized as individual kittens. We can not accept anymore litters at this time . Any help with fostering or medical expenses for the litters we are showing at the moment would be very much appreciated.

We have had a number of inquires about German Shepard breeds lately. Right now we are considering taking an expected litter of mixed German Shepard puppies in as Cause dogs ;when they are old enough to leave their mother. Their mother is a pure bred German Shepard and will also up for adoption once she is done nursing the puppies and is spayed.

We can take applications in advance for these expected puppies and their mother. The puppies would not be available to take home for three months.

Right now we still have the raffle for the grill going . I want to remind readers that we also sell bandanas and greeting cards that benefit our Cause for Paws pets. We also have a small selection of leads and collars.

If you are not ready to commit to being a full time pet parent please consider doing foster care. We do need foster parents who can commit to the dog or cat that they take until they are adopted. We cover the cost of fixing the foster pet and can help with the cost of feeding the pet as well. All we need is a commitment from you to socialize and bring the pet regularly on Saturday's to the adoption center.

If you are someone looking for a specific breed or breed mix do not hesitate to come in and fill out a request at the adoption center. This will give you a chance to find out what pets we currently have and those that we anticipate getting. We also will try to contact you when we get a pet similar to the one you are looking to adopt. We get new dogs almost every week so hopefully we can help you find your perfect match.

I live in a small city in the midwest. I am the pet parent to four cats, two birds , and one lonely dust bunny dog named Nigel. I have two human children. They are both teenagers and I occasionally see them.  View profile
