Update and Decorate Your Bedroom for Under $100

Nicole Mohr
Ever feel like your bedroom is boring and plain? Want to spice it up a little? Here are some fun and simple things that you can do to give your bedroom a fresh, new feel, without spending much money.

Embellish the Windows

Expensive drapes or fancy curtains aren't necessary to make your windows exciting. Try simply accessorizing your windows. You could add a window scarf, draping it over the curtain rod, or simply tacking it up in the corners. Cheap window scarfs can be purchased at places like Wal-mart or Target, or you can just make it yourself with a few yards of fabric. Here is an example of one that you can purchase for under $12:

Decorate with Fake Flowers

Fake flowers can be purchased individually, or in strands (sometimes with ivy), and can be great for decorating a bedroom. They add a unique look of elegance and charm. You can make a decoration for your dresser by putting flowers in a vase with beads on the bottom and filling it with water, or you can use the strands of flowers to make a border for a window, or to decorate a plain lamp. The possibilities are endless. They can be purchased at a craft store or a linen store, and are usually only about $1-$3 for each individual flower, or $5-$10 for a strand. Here are a couple of examples.

Photos

Photos add a personal touch to your bedroom. You can order poster size prints of any digital photo through most photo developing websites, such as snapfish.com, for about $20-$30, depending on the size, and a poster frame can be purchased somewhere like Wal-mart, Target, or a craft store, usually for under $10.

You can also display several snapshots by sticking them on a canvas memo board, like this one found at target for about $10.

Or you could display photos in a collage frame like this one, usually about $20-$30

Mirrors

Mirrors add light to a room and make it feel bigger. Decorate the walls with accent mirrors, using either a few large ones, or many small ones. Hang them in fun designs, or buy interesting shaped ones like this one from Ikea, only $10.
