Update: Donaire, Jr-Top Rank Rift

Exclusive Casual Talk via HOLLYWOOD, California - World Boxing Council/World Boxing Organization Bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire, Jr.'s relationship with Top Rank Promotions continues to blow at miles.

Top Rank Godfather Robert "Bob" Arum says "the Donaire case still continues in the courts and arbitration".Daniel Weinstein, a retired Federal Judge, is the arbitrator adjudicating the validity of the contract between Top Rank Promotions and Nonito Donaire, Jr.

For Donaire, Jr., the promotional wishes for his future fights edge out for Golden Boy Promotions but not without discomfort from the teeth of the law.

For Arum and his cohorts, the battle would still be miles away from resolution but they promise to stick to the ruling, if there's any forthcoming out of arbitration.

In fact, Arum says "Top Rank has obtained an order from the arbitrator enjoining Golden Boy (Promotions) from promoting Donaire, Jr., in that regard we feel very confident in opposition that Nonito Donaire, Jr. is still on the contract to us and it may very well be that he doesn't like us, or his wife (Rachel Donaire) doesn't like us."

"But a contract is a contract," Arum asserts.

"You (refering to Donaire, Jr.) fulfill your contract and then you move on and you do whatever you want to do. But, you've got to fulfill your contract."

On the other hand, Arum says "under the contract Donaire, Jr. has two to three fights until the end of next year".After Donaire, Jr. (26-1, 18 KOs) knocked out Montiel last Febraury 19, he claimed he was a free agent. At least two promoters, who wanted to remain anonymous, talked to the Donaire camp.

But they chose not to make him an offer because they believed that Top Rank's agreement with him is still valid. Conversely, Golden Boy decided to enter into a contract and signed up with Donaire, Jr.Donaire, Jr., 28, a native of the Philippines living in Northern California, is a former flyweight titleholder and interim junior bantamweight titlist.

Donaire, Jr. now ranks No.5 based on the pound-for-pound list of best boxers of the world.

not a fan of donaire but crabville ampong is a different breed of disgraceful Filipino. Typically would prefer seeing other Filipino dragged into the mud for silly reasons.
