Update on Kay Balbi

In Response to a Few Requests I Got Asking "Where Have You Been?"

Kay Balbi
Hi all,

It has been about a month since my last confession, err, I mean my last publication on Yahoo/AC. I've been busy looking for a job and writing my memoir in my spare time. I hope you all had a fabulous summer growing your gardens, taking vacations and enjoying life (and not working too terribly hard).

I have had a remarkable summer in which I was able to spend some time with my dear family and friends. After undergoing robotic surgery in August, I am glad to report that all is well and as expected. I am grateful for COBRA insurance, a good caring surgeon and a loving and supportive family.

What is coming up?

Tomorrow night my family and I are going to see the Blue Man Group. See here for more info about them and their official website. My husband and I went to see them about two years ago and enjoyed the simple homemade percussion instruments, the expressionless blue men, and the intensive audience interaction. We have rented a bus and fifteen of us are going in style; I am looking forward to it. Their act stimulates thought.

Saturday night is Heather's Annual Halloween Bash and as many of you may have already heard from me, Heather is an excellent party planner. See the link to read how she handled our wedding in 1999.

Heather's guests are always delighted by her amazing talents in decorations, food and party fares. Bob will be DJ'ing so I will probably be the "fetch me a drink biatch". It is tough wearing my shoes, believe me. This year I think I'm going as a kitty so maybe I'll trade in the heels for paws. A few years ago hubby and I went as Tommy and Angelica from Rugrats. If you dare, read the story and see the scary picture, here.

The Elections are coming on November 2. Although I am glad that many commercials have been bought to continue funding jobs in the advertising and public relations campaigns to maintain our unemployment rate of way too high, I will also be glad when the ads stop. I am very tired of hearing politicians bash each other without offering substantial solutions to our current problems. At any rate, I'm sure all that attend will have a blast and get a chance to dance their socks off.

More fun news. In a few weeks, my siblings and I are taking my grandmother, who will be 93 this year to a holiday production sponsored by public television featuring Straight No Chaser. Last year I bought tickets for Christmas for my daughters, then boyfriend, and they thoroughly enjoyed the show. Straight No Chaser is a ten man a Capella group whose roots began in college. The men later joined to form the act that sings popular songs, providing vocal instrumentation as a background to the various members who take turns with the leads. We are also doing a card drive for her. If anyone would like to send her a Happy Birthday card, you can tell her you have gotten to know her through me, and PM me and I will send you my address and I will make sure she gets it.

November 20th, Bob and I will be celebrating twelve years of marriage. For the record, it has been the best one night stands I ever had. Last year I wrote him a dirty poem for our anniversary. Since we've been practicing geriatric sex lately I may have to up the ante this year.

Thanksgiving is coming and the goose is getting fat. I need to clean my house, ugh, oh drat.

Upcoming Book Release

And finally, if money is what it is all about, it looks like it is official. I gave the self-publishing company my credit card and made a commitment to publish my memoir. Normally authors like to make money on their books instead of spending money making them but I've never been that bright.

My break- even point is about 2000 books so I am hoping that I can count on your support to pass it on to those that might appreciate it. Here is a preview of what you can expect:

While K.C. struggles with sexual development dysfunction, hearing loss, depression and addictions that impact her young adult years, she battles with her family, her belief in God, and society as a whole, regarding what is normal for a woman.

Vaginal reconstructive surgery and subsequent dilation therapy affects her deeply and the emotional pain leads to drug, alcohol, food and sex addictions. K.C. gets sober in her junior year of high school, but sobriety alone is not enough for her to change.

When she finds out that she is miraculously pregnant, it is a wake-up call. She goes through a period of self-awareness and eventually turns her bad girl actions into experiences she can use to become a good mother.

K.C. recognizes that she could have killed herself or given up hope, but she did not. Instead she persevered, sought help and united with others who battled similar demons. She celebrates her success and challenges readers of all ages to liberate their demons.

I am hoping to have it released by December 15th but more likely it will be closer to the first of the year.

In addition to the book, the band and I plan to record some songs that have inspired me along the way, including three tracks of our own originals . I am not sure how I am going to manage it yet, but those that purchase the book will be able to get the music too. Thanks for your continued support.
