Update Your Spring Wardrobe Inexpensively

DeeDee
Most women love to shop. It's like a generic trait within us. New outfits and matching shoes call our names as we walk through the mall just to pick up a birthday gift. We usually give into the call and before you know it, we've spent a few hundred dollars! Spring is coming and I can feel this mad routine getting ready to repeat itself. But it's not going to happen because I have a plan. I'll share it with you so you can save lots of money too on new spring clothes, but will share how you can still make updates to your outfits, accessories, and shoes for spring.

Organize a clothing swap with your friends. I've gotten many new sweaters and several skirts, all brand name, from my boss. She buys such nice things that she feels an obligation to find a new home for them when she is done with them. I reap the benefits! I now have Ann Taylor, Calvin Klein and so many other nice brand name clothes in my closet. And even if your friends do not wear the same size as you, you can always update your wardrobe by swapping handbags, shoes, and other accessories likes scarves or jewelry.

Shop at consignment shops or places like Goodwill for spring wardrobe updates. These pieces of clothing are usually gently worn and more than likely, nice. These outfits may not be new, but they'll be new to you and will enhance your wardrobe just the same. Plus you'll pay only a few dollars for each piece of clothing.

Go in armed with gift cards. At Christmas time, everyone in my family is nice enough to want to buy me a gift. Sometimes, though, I don't really want or need anything. That's when I pull my gift card request out. I like to save it for March or April when I know I am going to want to buy new spring clothes and then I head to places like Kohl's department store for some new things and I usually don't have to pay for since I have a gift card. It's like getting a delayed Christmas present and it works great if you have the perseverance to wait for spring.

Shop sales and bring coupons. It doesn't take a brainiac to realize that the clothing retail industry has a routine they follow throughout the year. They bring in items before the season starts and usually by the time you need new items in your wardrobe for that season, they are on clearance. Wait till then to buy new clothes. This works great if you aren't looking for something specific. And if you go in with coupons, you'll get your pieces of clothing for next to nothing. I've gone into big department stores for clothes and have come out with $1 pants and $3 skirts - no kidding! You can get clothes cheap too if you play the retail game right.

Shop on eBay. A friend from work got a skirt off of eBay for next to nothing. It fits her great and looks really nice. Plus the person who sold it to her, got it out their closet and made a little extra money. Just be ware that most things are not returnable if you are dealing with a private seller. Look for clothes that have measurements included in the description.

If you have other ways of saving on clothing, please drop me a comment. I am always looking for a good bargain, particularly when it comes to clothes. Happy shopping!
