Updated: 2009 NBA Mock Draft

Josh Wiley
The Lottery balls have been drawn now and we know where the different teams are selecting. Here is an updated look at the 2009 NBA mock draft.

1. Los Angeles Clippers- Blake Griffin PF Oklahoma

This was a no brainer. Whoever had the first pick in the NBA draft in 2009 was going to take Blake Griffin. My mock draft is no different and the only difference on my updated NBA mock draft is the team name selecting him with the first pick.

2. Memphis Grizzlies- Ricky Rubio PG Spain

The Memphis Grizzlies will have a hard time passing on this Steve Nash type prospect from Spain. They might trade out of this position as another option since they already have Mike Conley. Most 2009 NBA mock drafts will have Ricky Rubio going with the second selection.

3. Oklahoma City Thunder- Hasheem Thabeet C UCONN

The Thunder have plenty of scoring led by Kevin Duran but play horrible defense. Thabeet will be the perfect fit here as he can come in and step up their defense a notch and not have to perform much on the offensive side of the ball. The 2009 NBA draft should start to get a little more unpredictable after the first three selections are done. My mock draft gets more difficult at this point.

4. Sacramento Kings- Brandon Jennings PG Italy

The Kings are in need of a PG and they might have to push Jennings up a few spots in the 2009 NBA draft by reaching for him at position 4. Jennings is a tremendous athlete with potential to develop into a NBA all-star.

5. Washington Wizards- Jordan Hill PF Arizona

Hill has good size and should be a top 5 pick in this draft after leaving Arizona after his sophomore year. If Hill slips past pick number 4 he should be the fifth pick in the 2009 NBA draft just like he is in this mock draft.

6. Minnesota Timberwolves- Tyreke Evans- SG Memphis

With the sixth pick in the 2009 NBA Mock Draft the Memphis Grizzlies select....Tyreke Evans. Evans can put the ball in the hoop and gives the Timberwolves another scorer to add to the young talent they currently have.

7. Golden State Warriors- James Harden- SG Arizona State

The Warriors like the athletic players and Harden should be there pick if he is available at this point. If they are looking to go with some size you might see Golden State pick Earl Clark at this point but I will keep Harden here for this 2009 NBA mock draft.

8. New York Knicks- Stephen Curry- SG Davidson

Curry should continue to find a way to put the ball in the hoop in the NBA and could be contributing to the Knicks as early as the 2009 season.

9. Toronto Raptors- Demar Derozan- SG USC

Derozan has good size for a guard at 6'6" and is a tremendous athlete. Look for the Raptors to snag him with the ninth pick in the 2009 NBA draft.

10. Milwaukee Bucks- Jonny Flynn- PG Syracuse

Jonny Flynn is a playmaker with the ball in his hands. The Bucks might be tempted to grab him if he is available at this point.
