Upon Falling Out of Good Graces

The Icarus Effect

J L Carey Jr
I remember

The sound of your voice,
Something soothing
Like the vast quiet of the cosmos;
Each word
Like the birth of a new star
Whose tendrils of yellows erupted
Into fractal symphonies.

I remember

Remember losing your voice,
The feeling
Of weightlessness and silence
As I fell
And fell and fell away,
As the silver feathers of lost wings
Coiled in the blue above me.

I remember.
