Uprising Against New York Mosque

Mocking the Dead with Discrrimination

America is supposed to be a free and fair society. Most of us know at heart that freedom is not free and this country is NOT fair to all of it's citizens.

Since September 11, 2001, many Americans have gone overboard with the discrimination toward anyone of Arab decent or anyone who is Muslim in faith. The tragedy that took the lives of almost 3,000 when the Twin Towers fell has been made more of a tragedy by a perceived religious war waged by a very few, very loud people, in a sense mocking the deaths suffered on 9/11.

Out of the near 3,000 people that died, there were people of all faiths and beliefs. There were Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Atheists, etc., but many Americans seem to forget that there were also Muslims that perished in the Twin Towers and most likely on the airplanes as well. America has turned toward a religious purging since September 12, 2001.

Our laws have tilted toward the Christian "God's" law instead of Constitutional freedoms such as equality or freedom of religion without persecution and now many Americans are getting their undies in a knot because somebody wants to build a Mosque down the street from where the Twin Towers once stood.

When did we abandon the premise and ideals that America was born of?

There would not be one single dissenting voice in this country if a group wanted to build a Christian center where the Mosque is planned. The only difference is what religious group owns the building...we just can't let Muslims terrorize New York again! Please...get over yourself.

Some people need to get off their backside and move on...end of story.

Now there are going to be a good many people get riled up over my opinion but it matters not to me. Many will try to say that I have no idea what it is like to have loved ones taken so tragically. The only problem with that theory is that I DO know what it is like to have loved ones ripped from my life. I have had not one, but two siblings murdered in my lifetime, not counting the loss of my father as a teen, a third sibling in '97 and a best friend or two who died from accident or sickness.

Wouldn't you know it...the man who murdered my sister with three bullets to the head was very vocal about being a CHRISTIAN. The three teens who stabbed my brother 37 times in Houston, TX. Were all from devout CHRISTIAN homes. I am not Christian but many of my dearest friends are. It would be asinine to blame all Christians for the loss of my siblings just as it is asinine to harbor hatred for all Muslims for September 11.

Why can a Mosque not be built in the vicinity of where the Two Towers once stood? What does it benefit the dead that one group would be allowed to discriminate against another over religious differences? Has anyone fighting the Mosque plans taken a realistic assessment of WHY September 11, 2001 happened the way it did?

If America was to be realistic instead of vain and self righteous, we would not be able to deny that our own policies of double standards and discrimination overseas were the basis for 9/11. Who are we to blame a whole religious group for what we (our government) had a hand in? If we look realistically at our foreign policies over the last few decades, we would be able to clearly see what we were doing to tick people off. Instead we take the stance that we are always right and that we can do anything we want to anybody we want for any reason we see fit at the time. America does not want to face the absolute fact that we really are not better than anyone else and our vanity will be our undoing.

First, women were property instead of people and had no rights at all. We had no right to speak unless spoken to. We could not vote. Many women were denied education because our male dominated, Christian ruled society placed women as valuable as their farm animals...cook, clean and have babies was all women were allowed to do.

Then blacks were property and not people with no rights at all. They were livestock stolen from their own country to service the rich, white, Christian run society that was America. They were forbade to marry. They were forbade to raise their own family and their children were taken from them to sell off more times than not. They were forbade to live if they did not please their owners.

Do you remember the Alamo? Do you REALLY remember the Alamo...when white, Christian Americans decided that we had the right to take land that belonged to the people of Mexico? They fought back...that's what the Alamo was about. What would you do if strangers walked up and tried to steal your home?

America's Natives had their land stolen and then put on reservations of our government's choosing, most of the land was barren and would not support crops. The Christian led new settlers and newly positioned government made treaties that they never intended to honor. We took their children from them in order to assimilate them and turn them into us. We stole the culture of all the Natives that we did not kill off.

Our latest target has been to try and make it illegal for same sex couples to marry. First they claimed it would do irreparable harm to marriages all over the country. Why? If you oppose same sex marriage, you can bet your life that you will never be asked to marry someone of the same sex as you. Now the excuse is that it will hurt children. Why? Any child that is truly loved, whether it be by two adult women or two adult men grow up more well adjusted than in most devout Christian homes...according to what I have seen in my lifetime. Realistically...the argument is purely on religious grounds. I have heard people say that a same sex marriage is immoral. According to who? When is love and commitment immoral? You want to save marriage? Make it a crime to cheat on or abuse your spouse.

There is not a Christian in this country who truly has a right to oppose the Mosque in New York. The superiority of one religion is only imagined and that has caused more death and mayhem than anything else the human race has done. ALL RELIGION IS MAN MADE. Faith is of something bigger than man.

Your "God" is no better than any other God and it's long past time that you left your religious vanity at the door.

True democracy does not exist. The U.S. Constitution guarentees all American citizens certain rights that we all assume will prevail against all else but realistically do not. With the Supreme Courts ruling...  View profile

People such as yourself enforce the irrelevancy of false Christians and show a greater need for a separation of church and state. Odds are that I know a great deal more about Christianity and the Bible than you do. I, unlike people such as yourself, do not have to be on anyone's payroll or have a political agenda. If I were going to guess, I would say that you like Limbaugh and try to cover your bigotry over a black president by hiding behind asinine excuses like the "birthers"
I do not appear to be the one who needs to get over themselves. Only a coward hides behind an "anonymous" post.

Get over yourself Janey, your words are as irrelevant as any other reporter on the Islamic payroll. How much are these self-proclaimed Muslim leaders paying you to advocate such a travesty (hint hint)....? ;)
