Upstate New York Kid-Friendly Activities

Upstate New York, considered a tourist's paradise, has many different types of kid-friendly attractions that the whole family will enjoy. From amusement parks to fishing adventures and underground caverns to the Baseball Hall of Fame, upstate New York has it all.

Water Slide World
If your kids love water parks then Water Slide World located off exit 21 of the Adirondack Northway in Lake George, New York , is sure to be a hit. Rated the number one water park on the entire east coast, water slide world features more than 35 water slides, a huge wave pool, and water and sand volleyball. There are also two toddler pools so even the smallest members of the family can have a day of fun. The park has plenty of lockers, showers and dressing rooms, Life jackets will be provided if desired. There are also picnic areas, gift shops, and food concessions . The park is open and from June 19 through Labor Day weather permitting.

Other family fun amusement parks in upstate New York include Six Flags The Great Escape, Thunder Island, Water Safari, Enchanted Forest and Santa's Workshop.

Fishing is Fun with Risky Business Fishing Charters on Lake George, New York
If your kids love fishing upstate New York is the place to go. There are many wonderful lakes for fishing and charter boats that specialize in family fishing trips, and one of the best is Risky Business Fishing Charters on Lake George. Captain Gary Smith will take your family on his 24 foot Trophy Walkaround for a day of fun out on the lake. Fish for salmon, bass, lake trout and pike with all the equipment you need supplied by the captain. The boat has a fully enclosed bathroom, a sundeck for those who want to relax and a swimming platform if the kids want to take a break from fishing. Prices range from $160 for two hours up to $340 for a six hour fishing trip.

Go Underground in Howe Caverns
One of New York's natural wonders Howe Caverns is the largest cave in the Northeast that is open to the public. Water from an underground river carved this limestone cave over 10 million years ago. Take your kids to this unforgettable attraction as they travel 156 feet below the surface of the earth where the temperature is 52 degrees and there is a 55-foot ceiling. Together you will take a boat ride underground across the Lake of Venus. This magnificent adventure is located 45 minutes from Albany off exit 22 of I-88. The cavern tour costs $18 for adults, $15 for children age 12 to 15, $10 for children aged five to 11 and is free for children aged four and under.

Other natural wonders in upstate New York include Ausable Chasm, High Falls Gorge and the Natural Stone Bridge and Caves.

Baseball Hall of Fame
For those kids that love baseball a trip to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is sure to be a memorable experience. Located in Cooperstown, New York, the Hall of Fame is open year-round seven days a week except Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. Admission is for $11 for adults and $5 for children.
