Uptown Houston: The Perfect Place for a Business Lunch

Kat Mitschke
Uptown Houston is home to one of the largest business centers in the United States. Located on Post Oak Boulevard between Highway 59 and the 610 West Loop South, it contains more than 23.6 million square feet of commercial office space and more than 2,000 companies. Uptown Houston is the perfect place to conduct a business lunch whether you are hosting a group presentation or signing a contract with a new client. In this area there are many wonderful places to conduct business over lunch and the following are some of my favorites.

Arcodoro Italian Restaurant, located at 5000 Westheimer at Post Oak Boulevard, is a fantastic place to take a client when you are out to impress. They offer a wonderful lunch menu that contains everything from Antipasti (starting at $9.50) to a Salmone al Finocchietto ($18.50). This restaurant has a genuine Italian feel with an abundance of class.

Café Annie, located at 1728 Post Oak Boulevard, offers delicious southwestern cuisine. This restaurant is splendid when you want to influence a new client and share some amazing food. The lunch menu at Café Annie is diverse and offers entrees from a Buttermilk Fried Chicken Salad with Green Apples and Iceberg Lettuce, Toasted Pecans and a Chipotle Blue Cheese Dressing ($15.00) to a Wood Grilled Sirloin Steak with Steak Sauce & Rustic Garlic Aioli ($20.00). The atmosphere is elegant and quiet which makes conducting business over lunch a pleasure.

Canyon Café, located at 5000 Westheimer, Suite 250, presents an astonishing southwestern lunch menu. The atmosphere is lively and fun. This is a great place to get to know a new client or treat a coworker to a bit of enjoyment. The staff likes to boast that they have the "Best margaritas in Texas". Canyon Café's lunch menu ranges from a delicious cup of South Texas Tortilla Soup ($2.99) to a Chile Rubbed Sirloin Steak served with sautéed spinach and chile mashed potatoes ($13.95).

Maggiano's Little Italy, located at 2019 Post Oak Boulevard, in addition to being an incredible restaurant to dine intimately with a client, it features five beautiful banquet rooms that are perfect for hosting a large business lunch. You can choose from the outstanding customary Italian entrees to a Prime New York Strip, a 16 oz. broiled, prime, aged center cut New York strip steak, served with veal sauce marinated in herb marinade, topped with crisp onion rings and finished with garlic butter ($38.95). Make sure you save room for dessert because they have the best cheesecake I have ever put in my mouth.

If you are looking for a more casual place to dine for a business lunch, consider going to Kenny & Ziggy's New York Delicatessen, located at 2327 Post Oak Boulevard. This is a very popular place to eat lunch so be prepared to have a slight wait for a table. The atmosphere is lively and fun. The menu is very diverse with choices such as an appetizer of Potted Meatballs in Brown Gravy ($6.95) to a bowl of Beet Borscht Served Cold w/Sour Cream ($6.25) to a plate of Sable, Whitefish, and Nova Lox which is served with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cream cheese and a toasted bagel ($34.95). This would be a fabulous place to entertain a client that has been transplanted from New York.

While these are only a few of the amazing restaurants located in the Uptown Houston area, I am sure you would be pleased with all the locations I have suggested here.
