Urban Decay Afterglow Blush in Exhale - Product Review

Eh..

Layla A.
I was really looking forward to trying an Urban Decay blush- I have tried everything else and loved it. This one didn't do it for me. This is another one of those products where the packaging is the high point.

COLOR

Exhale is a medium brown with lots of sparkle that never really picks up when swatched/used. It is not really a great blush color for my skin tone, but works okay as a bronzer. For those of you that are darker, this might make a good highlighter. For those of you who are lighter, bronzer? Contour? Blush is really the last thing I see this product being called. I would sooner call this foundation. For those of you that like brown blush, good for you! I just really can't get it to work for me.

FORMULA

The formula on this is really where I hate it the most. It is the least pigmented piece of makeup I have ever tried or even seen. It looks relatively pretty in the compact, but upon swatching and trying, you get NO color. It does have lots of sparkles in it, but they do not pick up AT ALL. The one place where formula is okay, maybe even good, is staying power. Once it's on, it is not going to leave. Which I guess is nice for the natural, subtle look. Maybe I just don't like this because I am a pink blush girl?

FUNCTIONALITY

This compact is really cute and smaller than most blush compacts. That being said, it is great as a portable color. Since the staying power is good, you probably will not need to reapply which is good, but it kind of defeats the purpose of a small compact.

PACKAGING

Exhale is in a silver-purple compact with Urban Decay written in a circle on the top. It has a cute little star in the middle, and the compact feels sturdy, nice mirror on the inside. The mirror may not be functional as this product is very small, but it is a good mirror and definitely feels more secure than some of the other Urban Decay compacts I have tried. The product itself is between a MAC blush and a MAC eyeshadow- closer to the eyeshadow size. I really don't mind how small it is- it's cute. But if I am paying top dollar, I want a little more bang for my buck.

PRICE

Urban Decay Afterglow Blush goes for $17 for 3.8 grams/0.13 oz of product. Compared to a MAC blush at $18.50 for 6 grams, this is not a good deal.

FINAL OPINIONS

When it all comes down to it, maybe this product is better than I am making it out to be. They are advertised as a glow, and I do agree, they give a nice glow. But I was not satisfied with the price, pigmentation, or color selection they have. If you are going for the natural sun kissed look, this may actually be a good color for you. I just wish it worked better for me.
