Sting comes in an egg shaped compact like all of the Urban Decay Deluxe shadows, but it has a unique lid. There's a psychedelic looking picture of a girl with huge hair, a sports car, hearts and circles drawn in purple, pink, and orange.
Inside the compact is a rectangular strip of the eye shadow and small mirror. The Sting Deluxe eye shadow isn't exactly a maroon shade, but it's in the red family. I'd describe it as a deep dark pink shade or a violet red.
It was a girly color that reminded me of hearts and flowers, and lipsticks but it still had edge so I bought a compact for $18.
Urban Decay claims that their Deluxe shadows "turn your eyes into opulent works of art," and will allow you to "experience a never-before-seen or felt eye shadow extravagance. Dip into this sumptuous, creamy powder eye color and treat yourself to Technicolor hues, luxurious texture, and incredible wear."
Unlike the Graffiti shadow from Urban Decay, after using the Deluxe shadow in Sting, I was actually pleased with how intense the color was. I did feel like the color popped like it was in Technicolor and the violet red shade was very cool and unique looking.
The powder itself is very velvety, creamy and luxurious feeling. It pretty much glided onto my eyes and felt soft and gentle. And it only took two layers for the color to really show up intensely on my lids.
I'm not sure how long it lasts though because I didn't wear it for longer than ten minutes. I put it on and took it right off because Sting was not the right color for me. I think it's such a fun shade. I'd love to wear it because it's very vibrant and unique, but it looks more like a violet pink shade on my skin and it just doesn't flatter my golden brown complexion.
Instead of Sting making my eyelids look cool it just made my skin look sallow and on top of that I looked like I had an eye infection because of this Urban Decay Deluxe Eye Shadow.
In the end...
I really like the color of the Urban Decay Deluxe Eye Shadow in Sting. Even though it's not for me I think it's a color that girly girls would love as well as girls with a little edge. I don't think it's for anyone in the medium brown skin range but I think girls with fair and dark brown skin tones would look great in it.

Post a CommentWhen you first described the color by instinct was like, wait, I know she's a darker skin tone and that color doesn't seem like it would work. I wonder how this will turn out. You got me kinda excited cause I love rich, vibrant pink/violet tones. But ah well! I guess I'll just stick to wearing that color on my body instead of on my face!
