Urban Decay De-Slick - Product Review

One Time I Am Not in Love with the Packaging

Layla A.
Having combo-oily skin, it is hard to find a product that will work for the oily and dry spots on my face. But, leave it to Urban Decay to make another Holy Grail product for this makeup addict. If the product doesn't attract you immediately, the packaging will.

COLOR

Urban Decay's De-Slick powder is a light violet color, which seems really weird for something that is made to be applied throughout the day. It goes on transparent, so it will work for anyone and will not change the color of your foundation or any other makeup on your face.

FORMULA

De-Slick goes feels very soft and silky in the compact and on your face, too. It is great for a dry face all day and buffs into the skin very nicely with ease. While I am combination, it does not cling to any dry spots on my face and sinks into my skin, leaving it feeling as smooth as the powder in the compact. This is great as a blotting powder throughout the day or just a one-time application in the morning. I super love this formula and have not found anything like it so far.

FUNCTIONALITY

Personally, this product is not very functional to me, but I'll get to that in packaging. Anyways.... De-Slick comes in an adorable purple compact with a fabulous skull-flower print on the front. It is a great size for on-the go and is much more portable than a loose powder. It does come with a puff, but I find that using a powder brush such as the MAC 150 works best. Or, even their Big Buddha brush has proven to be good for me.

PACKAGING

While I adore the design the color, and everything about the look of this compact, mine broke while it was in my purse one day. The hinge started to go and next thing I knew, the powder was cracked. Luckily, I was able to transfer it into a container from an old loose powder and now use it as just that, a loose powder. It applies just as well, but definitely a minus for making a compact that has the potential to break randomly.

PRICE

De-Slick is pretty pricey at a whopping $29, but for those looking for a great finishing powder or blotting powder, it is a great contender. I sure hope none of the $29 was for the compact, but will the cute design, it probably was. I would happily pay for this product again, but hope it will not break the next time.

FINAL OPINIONS

I consider this a HG product for my skin, and use it every day as a setting powder. If you can get over the $29 price tag, I highly suggest getting De-Slick at urbandecay.com, sephora.com, ulta.com, Sephora stores, Ulta stores, or wherever Urban Decay cosmetics are sold. I do have to take off one star for the flimsy compact, but overall, rate this at the top of my list for oil-control.
