COLOR
Midnight Cowboy Rides Again is a light skin-beige kind of color, and looks truly great on all other skin tones I have seen it on. If you ignore the glitter, this is a really pretty color, but that is near impossible when it falls down your cheeks and cakes into any creases you may have on your face. But for now, I will put the glitter aside- let's just pretend it is not there. This color, to me, is what the color Nylon should look like. It is that creamy off-white that blends evenly into a slightly-darker-than-porcelain kind of tone. Overall, the perfect highlight color for my skin tone, but of course the glitter tends to burn the eyes, making this a hard-to-use color.
FORMULA
Well, the color is awesome, but the glitter formula is where they have problems. I am the kind of person that will use glitter every once in a while just because I love glitter. But, that is when I want glitter. When you try to blend an insane amount of glitter into a neutral eyeshadow, it does not bode well. When I want a neutral highlight, I want a neutral highlight. They would have to take out at least fifty percent of the glitter in here to make it workable, and even then, this would not be suitable for a highlight in the glitter-iest of looks. In all seriousness, I swatched Midnight Cowboy Rides Again on my arm for the sake of this review, and there is no glitter all over my shoulder. How does this happen? Even if there were this much glitter and a smooth formula, I would use it. But there is so much glitter that it instantly clumps up and all you get is the glitter. It is long-lasting, which sucks if you don't like glitter, but sometimes makeup remover won't even remove the remnants of this silver-glitter-monster.
FUNCTIONALITY
Since this color is practically a disco ball in a pan, I do not see it as functional. If you use this color everyday and like it, more power to you! I really admire your skill. Honestly, I cannot use this to save my life. The glitter just gets in the way and makes it troublesome and horrible to work with. If you can get this to work, it would be a great light nude summer color, even with the glitter.
PACKAGING
Midnight Cowboy Rides Again is in no way a matte shade, so that means it is the regular formula. This thereby means that it is in the classic silver packaging, adorable window and all. I really do love the Urban Decay eyeshadow compact for the small hard-to-crack window, the cute design and detail, and the clasp that always clicks shut, making it super easy to tell if it is open. For this particular shade, that is especially important as I doubt anyone wants silver glitter scattered and sprinkled in their purse. Trust me, it will happen.
PRICE
Midnight Cowboy Rides Again retails for $17 wherever Urban Decay products are sold. Since you are getting an eyeshadow and a glitter in one, it is an awesome deal.
FINAL OPINIONS
I do not judge Urban Decay for putting so much glitter in this eyeshadow. Can I, personally, use it? No. But I do admire everyone that can. And, I do love this color. If I could handle the glitter, I would use it every day as if my life depended on it. Every company has to have some glitter bombs, and even though Urban Decay may have overdone it with this one, I still love their products, and I will continue to use them.
