Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Twice Baked

Layla A.
Is Twice Baked a darker version of Half Baked? I don't think so, but some might. Twice Baked is on the darker side of neutral, but honestly, this is not my favorite. Don't get me wrong- it is a staple color, but anyone that has read my past reviews will know that I don't like neutral shades as much. So, color aside, I am still not crazy about it. It's not that the formula is bad or anything, it's just not quite as pigmented as I am used to.

COLOR

Like I said, Twice Baked is definitely a deeper brown, to me, a chocolate brown; however, Urban Decay describes it as a brownie brown with gold glitter, which I think describes it pretty well. However, upon reading their description, I am a little surprised- I have never seen any hint of gold glitter in Twice Baked, but it is probably subtle. If this is the case, then it really is a darker version of Half Baked. Like I said, I don't even notice the glitter, so if you hate glitter, don't sweat it.

FORMULA

Twice Baked is very soft, but I find that it goes on slightly sheerer than one would think. It is definitely buildable coverage, though. I also have some trouble blending Twice Baked- when I try to blend it, the color kind of just disappears. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but to me, Twice Baked is a near matte formula, so maybe that is why I am having trouble. This color will last all day and, on occasion, stain, but as I have mentioned before, a little tea tree oil soap will get rid of the stain right away.

FUNCTIONALITY

I see this color as more of a fall color, but I could also see using this to define the crease a little in summer. This color also looks great over black eyeliner, and gives the eye a nice highlighted look. In fall or winter, I could see using this in almost every smoky eye I do- just have to make sure I have a base so any sheer color won't look as weird. It is a little hard to work with, so this is definitely not for that on-the-go kind of girl, but if you have the time, you can work this color.

PACKGING

Twice Baked is in Urban Decay's classic packaging with the silver instead of the matte gold. As all other Urban Decay packaging, it has the adorable designs and the Urban Decay logo right on the front, all encasing the little window that I love oh-so-much.

PRICE

Twice Baked retails for $17 wherever Urban Decay products are sold.

FINAL OPINIONS

If you already have a chocolate-deep brown, I think this color is most definitely passable. I am happy to have it and I will use it, but if it hadn't have been in my Book of Shadows Vol. II or one of my other palettes, I probably would not have bought this color.
