COLOR
As I said before, YDK is very pretty brown, but in my opinion, not very unique- it doesn't have anything different or special to offer. Urban Decay describes it as a bronzed mocha with golden microglitter. I consider this a pretty good description, though no glitter is detectable to me, but I guess that is why they call it microglitter. I definitely get the bronze sheen, and I see the mocha hints in it. However, when describing it, all my brain thinks is 'medium brown'. I just really do not have any talent when it comes to describing brown shades, I guess.
FORMULA
YDK is extremely pigmented, but not clumpy like some other Urban Decay shadows I know. I do find that on a bare eye, it does not last as long as I would like it to, so a base is necessary with this color. It glides on the extremely easy and smooth, blending and building up the color is a piece of cake. This is also another soft eyeshadow that Urban Decay offers, making it even better, which seems near impossible. You do have to be careful when blending without a base, because the color will fade pretty fast. Just a tip to all of those people out there who haven't discovered the joy of eyeshadow bases and primers, you really need one!
FUNCTIONALITY
Since this is a very neutral brown, I see this as being a great everyday color for work or school. It can be good all over the lid, but this color is dark enough that it will look better in the crease. I also think this is a tad dark for a summer color, but could work if it was only used for defining the crease. But, if you want to use it all over the lid in the summer, be my guest. I am just one of those people that like using lighter, more natural colors in the summer time, even if it is a light purple. For fall and winter, this color could definitely be played up and made into that deep, woody kind of look. While I did say this brown doesn't really stand out to me, I never said I didn't use it all the time.
PACKAGING
YDK is the regular Urban Decay formula, so it has the classic silver compact with the Urban Decay logo and detailing, the small window showing you what color the shadow is. As I have mentioned before, I adore the window and clasp on the Urban Decay eyeshadow compacts, and I find them to be really sturdy and durable.
PRICE
YDK retails for $17 wherever Urban Decay products are sold.
FINAL OPINIONS
Anyone that loves brown shades should definitely check out this color. It is a really great medium brown, and while it did not stand out to me, it may totally rock your world. It has the perfect amount of shimmer and can be used in a number of ways. Overall, I consider YDK a win. However, I do feel like it could be duped pretty easily, so definitely compare it to colors you already have before buying it.
