Urban Decay Lip Primer Potion

Layla A.
Since I have dry lips, how would a dry lip primer work? Surprisingly well....

COLOR

The Urban Decay Lip Primer Potion has an SPF of 15 and a light peachy-nude color. Though it shows up nude on the lips, the color is visible in the packaging.

FORMULA

This is a very weird product to me because since it is a primer, you don't want anything slick or really cakey. But, this is very dry. However, it does work. While I do have dry lips, this smoothes out my lips like no other. I can feel it filling in the lines, and it leaves a blank, perfect canvas for lip products. While it is on the dryer side of lip products, it moisturizes and preps pretty well. I use this instead of a lip balm now because lip balms mix with the lipstick and make a weird consistency.

FUNCTIONALITY

If you are in need of a lip primer, this is functional. However, if you are happy as is, you will not get any use out of this. I use it once in the morning before my lipstick, but don't bother reapplying if the color comes off. I have noticed this makes the color last longer and with the great SPF, it is good for sunny, hot days.

PACKAGING

This looks almost identical to the eyelash potion in the packaging designs. It is the light purple tube with the gray-sliver designs and has an easy to use twist up tube that I don't see breaking anytime soon. What's nice about this product is that the tube is metal. While this is seen sometimes, I was nicely surprised when I felt how durable and portable this was.

PRICE

This retails where Urban Decay is sold for $20 and to me, is worth it for how smooth my lips feel. If you are planning to rock the naked look in the summer, I think this would be really useful. Just slick some of this on with your favorite nude lipstick or lip gloss and you have smooth, perfect lips all day.

FINAL OPINIONS

I get a lot of use out of this product; however, if you are satisfied with your current lip balm, I wouldn't really bother with this. The SPF is really great for high sun, and SPF 15 is really good for a lip product. I usually see around 4-6 SPF. So in that respect, this is awesome.
