Every year, thousands upon thousands of missing children reports are filled out never to be resolved. Some chalk it up to kidnappings, others to abandonment, and some children simply want to run away from home. These occurrences actually happen about twenty-five percent of the time when a child goes missing. The rest of the time, something far more sinister is taking place right in front of our very noses. The curiosity of a little kid is comparable to that of a little puppy. A child sees a new toy, new taste, new experience, and immediately they want to explore and soak in all that it is worth. Picture a child when they see something extra-ordinary, about as extra-ordinary as a shiny new rainbow.
Children are told from a young age that there is gold and treasures lying for them at the end of the rainbow. Follow the rainbow to its resting place and one will live a life of happiness and befriend the magical leprechauns that guard the sacred treasures. This is not the case. The sinister half-god Gargoth has created his own realm in the dreams and wishes of small children. Gargoth is a demon that needs the flesh and soul of only the purest of people preserve his power for centuries on end. He must devour both. Gargoth rules all that is under the ground that people walk on. The sewers are his home. It may not sound like much to an ordinary man, but it is all that Gargoth has ever desired. Gargoth loves the dark and stank odors as much as a romantic loves a bright dewy meadow. Gargoth has been around since the dawn of time, even before the Romans had mastered the art of a sewage system. He is a master of psychology and has studied the habits and actions of children of all cultures. Gargoth knows that some children will try to get to the end of the rainbow, regardless of the warnings that no end to a rainbow exists. Some children are simply to curious for their own well being.
This is where Gargoth has created his realm on the bones and ashes of children trying to see their fantasy come to life. Gargoth leads the child through binding magic spells on a journey fit for a Dr. Seuss adventure. But when they reach their final destination and try to dive into their hearts desire, it simply vanishes like a mirage in the middle of a desert. Instead, the poor children foolish enough to disobey their parents wishes stand face to face with terror incarnate. Patches of hair over a wrinkled, corpse like body four times that of a human being. Four long canine teeth protrude from receding gum lines, producing a creature that could be considered the love child of an ogre and a jackal. This is the true face of a rainbow. This is why no one has ever seen the end of a rainbow and lived to tell about it. As the child lets out their final scream it is immediately sucked from their mouth as Gargoth begins the process of harvesting yet another poor victim. They simply become another "brick in the wall" in making Gargoth's reign of the underworld ever longer.
The people on the streets today were smart enough to "know" that there is no pot of gold at the end of a rainbow and that it is simple a children's tale. They were the ones who listened to their parents and understood the wisdom in their words. If they didn't, well, they would be spending eternity in the caverns of Gargoth's kingdom.
