Urgent Animal News from Around the States

Terri Rimmer
There are tons of pets in need across the country, too many to possibly contain into one simple story.

Below are some who are in dire need of help:

Urgent funds are need for a cat named Daisy who was caught in a car engine. The feline was brought to a shelter Thursday by a woman who found her inside her vehicle.

Donations may be made via this chipin link:
http://pawstotherescue.chipin.com/daisys-leg-amputation. Once the cat is healed up Paws to the Rescue, the organization overseeing her care will need a special adopter or rescue for her, they say.

There are dogs in danger in Yanceyville, NC at Caswell County Animal Shelter because hunters who are "done" with their canines since hunting season is over are dumping their pets off there, turning them loose, and abandoning them.

The phone number for the facility is 336-694-4921.

At the Habersham County Animal Shelter, all dogs are urgently needed to be adopted, in particular, one named Rocky, whose intake date was Nov. 10. He's a male Boxer/Pit Mix and is often overlooked for that reason but is very urgently in need of a home. The shelter is more than full now with not a single cage or run available and they are located at 4231 B Toccoa Highway Clarkesville, GA 30523 (706-754-3533). The email adress is Madicowx@aol.com. Adoption fees are $80 for males, $90 for females and includes spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, DHLP-P, Bord., vaccinations, deworming, and microchip. The agency says they love and welcomes rescues and are "very rescue- friendly."

At the Bladen County Animal Shelter in Elizabethtown, NC, funds are needed to help save the cats there urgently. Chip in donations will cover the vet exam, FIV/FELV Combo test, deworming, rabies vaccine (if old enough), transport, and flea treatment for five cats. There are many other cats and kittens in need, too and if you are interested in adopting one, many are available. A shelter friend volunteer may be able to assist you and can obtain transportation at a reasonable cost.

The chipin is http://melissasrescues.chipin.com/bladen-kittys. The cats don't have much time so if you are interested in adopting any cats or dogs, call or visit to adopt one today.
