Urgent Care Center Located in Center Moriches, New York

This winter I experienced one of the worst sinus infections I think I have ever had. Since I don't have a family primary doctor that I go to regularly, I usually just go to a walk in medical center for treatment. I have always had good experiences with walk in centers, that is of course until I went to the Urgent Care Center in Center Moriches, NY off Montauk Highway. I was completely disappointed with my visit to this medical center. I will not be going back any time soon.

Here is my story. When I first walked in I couldn't believe the amount of people waiting in the waiting room. I thought I would be there forever. Well, I was right about that. I was there forever. That was just one of the problems I experienced at this center. Not only did I have to wait a long time in the waiting room just to be called, I then had to wait even more once they brought me into an examining room. I was so tempted to just get up and leave but I was really sick and needed some medicine soon. At this point I just figured I might as well wait.

Let me get back to the main waiting room. It was a nice size room so I don't have any complaints about that. It is just that it seemed extremely outdated. The furniture was old, it needed a paint job, and the blinds were all broken. I just felt this didn't make such a great impression on the patients. The receptionists who called you up and took all of your information weren't the friendliest I have experienced. They would practically scream your name when they called you up. We were all sitting so quietly there was no need for them to be so loud.

When I finally did get to see the doctor, she was actually very nice. It is a shame that the center itself turned me off so badly or else I would have definitely went back to see this same doctor again. She checked me out and told me I had a bad sinus infection. She wrote out all of my prescriptions right in front and me explained each one. She even gave me a new prescription for my asthma medication. I don't think I was with her for more than 10 minutes. However, I didn't mind because she gave me what I needed to start feeling better.

After I was finished with the doctor, I then had to check out. I paid my co payment and couldn't get out of their fast enough. I noticed that the people still sitting in the waiting room couldn't look more miserable. They were probably waiting for as long as I had to wait. It turns out the reason our wait was so long that day was because they only had one doctor working and she was late. She ended up being backed up for the entire day which in turn caused all of the delays. Not very good planning on their part for the middle of cold season. I think they should have had at least two doctors working that would have helped immensely.

In conclusion, I do not recommend going to the Urgent Care in Center Moriches, NY located on Montauk Highway in the Subway shopping center. The doctor was great but the center itself was not.
