UrSession.Com Looking to Revolutionize the Music Industry

Kyle S.
Earlier this month, musicians and artists everywhere saw the birth and launch of the Web site Ursession. This site is one of the first online music sites, next to MySpace, but Ursession has features that MySpace just doesn't have.

Ursession is one of the first online record labels that could easily start a new method of finding music talent all over the world. The concept is simple really, upload your music to Ursession and let the fans vote on who they like. The fans are the ones that are in control of who gets signed and noticed. This isn't some cheap, low key record label either. If you mange to get signed, you will get everything you can expect out of a major record deal such as the recording of your album, marketing, advertising, setting up a tour and the list goes on and on. Here are some other ways that Ursession is attempting to revolutionize the music industry.

The idea for Ursession was brought to life by Shavo Odadjian, the bass player from System of a Down and a good friend of Shavo. That idea is now a full fledged reality thanks to Shavo, Sway of MTV and King Tech. This site gives hope to musicians and artists all over the world.

The fans are really the driving force behind bands getting noticed on Ursession. Fans that come across a solo artist or band they really like can cast a vote for that artist and once they achieve a certain number of fan votes, thats when they can be recruited for a record label. Ursession wants top artist to have 50,000 fan votes before they get a record label through Ursession. The big thing to remember is that other record labels can go around the site and scout bands they think could be the next big thing. Not everything has been perfected yet as some artists have tried to cheat the system by getting massive amounts of fan votes by cheating. Anyone caught cheating by producing massive numbers of votes for themselves will be permanently banned from Ursession.

Artists can also upload videos of themselves playing songs or covers to either get noticed or maybe try to attract other musicians around them to maybe start up a band. This is a great way to locate other musicians around your area and you can even see how good they are and their interests before even setting up a jam session. This feature is very popular among solo artists trying to get their names out there. Music fans can even cast votes for videos just like casting votes on an artist page for music acts they really enjoy.

Ursession is open to any musician no matter where you live. The site really opens to artists that are not located in cities like Los Angeles and are constantly surrounded by a music scene. I live in a part of MI where there is little to no music scene whatsoever. Ursession gives hope to people like myself on getting noticed and having a chance in the music industry. People who live in parts of the world that doesn't have a music scene can upload their music and who knows, could be the next big thing you hear on the radio.

Ursession is barely going on it's first month and has a large number of bands and solo artists trying to get noticed and make something of themselves. It's hard big Ursession could be in the next few months but so far the site is taking off pretty good as everyone has expected it to. There's already a few bands on there gaining a lot of attention from fans all over the world. If you sign your band up on Ursession, the big thing is to get your name out there. Send out friend requests but never spam your contacts with comments begging them to vote for you. It just annoys people and comes off desperate. If people like you, they will vote.

i am x, a fan on the site... i LOVE urSESSION!!!! i've been there since day one & really don't care to use anything else for music now. i love the flow of it... everything is just all right there in your face.. you don't have to try so hard to find stuff, but if you need to get more specific, their search feature is really awesome. i love how you just run into artists/fans from all kinds of countries you've never heard of. i didn't think there would be a simple way to find out what kind of music there is in sri lanka, iran, poland, greenland, even idaho... i think it's great for musicians.. there are so many ways for a fan to run across your music & fans can favorite your audio/video which then appears on their page.. then there are 2 places for the next person to stumble across your music, & they can vote & rate from either page.. i've seen how quickly stuff spreads like that. so many people have found out about artists through my page & i'm proud to be a part in helping both parties.
