US Airways Makes it Easier to Get a Free Flight

A New, Simpler Way to Earn Dividend Miles

Lori Voth
Just when it seems that the airline companies have reached an epic high in terms of the number of ways they have collectively managed to insult their customers, the long established and well reputed US Airways takes the opposite approach.

The major airline company is putting an obviously strong effort forward in order to make the best of the effects of our current economy. The financial bind our country is in has had a dramatic effect on the travel industry. However, while many corporate businesses have chosen to cross their fingers and hope for it all to soon pass, the people behind US Airways have apparently turned the situation into an opportunity. It seems that the company has made a smart decision to accept that which it is unable to control and really concentrate on refining those of which it can.

One area of the US Airways services where this extra effort is especially evident is in the airline company's level of customer appreciation. Many major airlines host a rewards program of some sort that pays customers in various ways back as a thank you for their business. Delta Sky Miles, Northwest World Perks and Jetblue TrueBlue are just a few examples. But just recently US Airways has become proactive in their strategies to extend their Dividend Miles Frequent Flyer Program to offer more bonuses for customers than ever before.

The US Airways Dividend Miles Program has fairly recently branched out to include a supporting promotional project within the traditional Dividend Miles Frequent Flyer rewards program. This new development, referred to as the Dividend Miles Dining Program, offers customers a way to earn Dividend Miles by doing an activity they probably already do anyway: Go out for dinner.

US Airways Dividend Miles Dining Program has teamed up with thousands of restaurants, bars and clubs all over the United States and Canada to offer you this opportunity to earn Dividend Miles in return for your patronage. All you need to do to be eligible for this is sign up for a free US Airways Dividend Miles Dining account at the US Airways Rewards Network Website and register any Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover Cards, either debit or credit, that you might be likely to use during future dining occasions.

Once registration is submitted you're immediately in. So from that point on any time you dine at a participating US Airways Dividend Miles Dining restaurant or bar and pay with a registered card, the earned miles will automatically be added to your Dividend Miles account. The rewards break down to 3 miles for every dollar spent and the best part is that this includes your fee for tax and added tip.

Thorough research indicates that this is an honest and legitimate opportunity to earn free rewards miles without having to spend any extra money to do so. The only real "catch", if you can even call it that is that by enrolling in this program you agree to accept email solicitations related to US Airways and US Airways Dividend Miles and Dining Program from UsAirways.com at the email address you provided during registration. Most of us probably get these anyway.

Note, though, that if interested there is an alternative option to refuse the email marketing materials from UsAirways.com. Just uncheck the appropriate box during registration. The setback of this opt-out option however is that instead of the 3 pints for each eligible dollar spent you only get 1 for 1 if you refuse the mailings. This is definitely a loss to consider.

Once enrolled in the US Airways Dividend Miles Dining Program you can participate as minimally or actively as you wish. Qualifying dining locations are plentiful in number and include a very diverse array of restaurants, bars and clubs all over United States and Canada. If you prefer you can simply eat out as you normally would at your favorite restaurants and rack up miles with luck.

One nice aspect of the program is the eclectic places included in the database of eligible locations. Participating establishments are not just popular chains or easy to find tourist traps; there is also a fine selection of independently owned establishments, best-kept-secret-types of hidden local pubs and bistros and obscure ethnic eateries you may never have imagined existed. Chances are by accident if you tend to go out to eat once in a while you still have a good chance at earning points.

If you wish to get into it and have a little fun with the US Airways Dividend Miles Dining Program, on the other hand, there are more than sufficient resources available to help you do so. USAirways.com offers a tremendous search feature on their Dividend Miles Dining Rewards Network website that allows you to locate and explore participating restaurants near any city or zip code in extensive detail. This section of the site is helpful and surely inspiring to anyone who is enthusiastic about experiencing new foods and places to dine.

Along with in depth overviews of each dining locale in terms of atmosphere, clientele, menu and logistical information like directions, price and hours of operation there is also updated information regarding any reward miles stipulations or currently running promotions that may be specific to that venue.

Sounds like a good plan! I'm leary of the "small print" though, so I wonder if this really is as good as it sounds, or if it goes the way of other flight reward programs.

Good information, except the ad covered some of the parts and I couldn't read a section. Hey AC. Put it in the box you created, not on the article.
