US Border Security and Illegal Immigration

If you have been watching TV anytime during the last few years you have almost certainly seen the analyst talking about the security of the United States borders. You have seen the minuteman in Arizona. And the old politicians who want to build a wall from Brownsville, Texas to San Diego, California. As an American citizen living in Tijuana Mexico I can tell you those old politicians on TV do not know what is going on in Washington, much less on the border. I cross the border everyday along with 30,000 other people and want America to know a few things.

First of all people are not walking days through the desert nearly as much as they are walking through US Customs. It is well known that many US Custom officers are on the "take" and accept bribes from drug traffickers and human smugglers. When an agent gets busted they are simply removed from the job and very rarely if ever prosecuted. I have driven through the border line the the mornings to find agents sleeping in the booth or simple not present at all. Yes this has happened after 911.

Why? As I crossed one day the border guard handed me a recruiting brochure for US Customs. They make less than $2000 dollars a month starting out. Who can blame a kid for turning his head and letting in a load of illegal workers or drugs when he will make for letting the car pass than he make in salary working two month? I heard a friend talking of one of his friends who was arrested four times smuggling illegals in the United States before he received 16 months in prison. The man was charging people $3,000 to ride in his trunk across the border. I also read in a newspaper when customs busted a man taking pot across the border... his pay $1000.00 per load. He confessed that he had been doing is for 2 years so avoid a 24 month sentence after his third arrest. And what happens to all the people using fake passports and Id's to enter the USA? Its called a VR, voluntary return. Sign the paper and see you tomorrow.

Wake up Washington! Pay the border guards for money. And prosecute corrupt officials and illegal aliens.
