Men and women may be built a little different physically, although there are some exceptions to this. However, we're all created the same mentally and we all have the ability to strengthen our minds. A woman can work just as hard at a job as a man. Women have bills and living expenses just as men do, and need the money as much as men do. The United States is supposed to be the most modern and liberal country in the world, and paying men and differently for the exact same work is biased, old-fashioned, and unjust.
While we have come some way in the battle of equal pay, we still have quite a way to go. How often to you see a female executive or CEO? It is a rarity but it's still pretty uncommon even in the 21st century. Women today are still hired more for their looks than for their qualifications. This is something that needs to be done away with. Women need to be hired because they have skills and can handle the work, not because of their physical features. They also deserve to get merit raises and promotions the same way that men do.
There's no question about it, women should be regarded and revered the same way men are in the workplace. However, it's time to stop making this an exclusively female issue and think about others too. Is the African American male paid the same as a Caucasian or white male in the workforce? Most of the time the answer will be no. How about the Spanish-American guy or the immigrant from Ireland? They are probably paid less than the white male since they're not a part of the dominant race. U.S. companies need to pay equal pay to all, not just women.
