US News college rankings 2010 list reveals a tie for top spot. The US News college rankings 2010 list is the latest installment of the 'Best Colleges' rankings that U.S. News & World Report submits each year. Among the 2010 lists that US News has released are the 'National Universities Rankings' which breaks down the biggest and best universities in the country to determine which university ranks the best. On the US News college rankings 2010 list Princeton University was able to improve upon their 2009 score of 99 to finish the 2010 list with a score of 100. Harvard University also retained their score of 100, making it a tie for the top spot in the US News college rankings 2010 list.

The US News college rankings come out yearly to try and rank the best of all universities in the country, taking into account several different attributes of the schools, and comparing them to each other in a methodology that separates the best from the rest. The US News college rankings are typically released right before the next school year is about to start, and as fall is now upon us, the US News college rankings 2010 list has been revealed. The ranking formula that goes on behind the scenes involves taking into account SAT scores, peer reputation, selectivity, and alumni giving among other things. The universities are then all scored based on responses given to questionnaires, and the ultimate list is revealed when everything is tabulated. The scoring system has been called into question multiple times, but the list still remains highly sought after by most universities that appear on it.

Harvard University and Princeton University are tied in the top spot of the 2010 US News college rankings, but they aren't the only schools on the list. Yale places third on the list with a score of 98, followed by the California Institute of Technology (score of 93), MIT (93), Stanford (93), and the University of Pennsylvania finishing out the top seven. The top ten on the US News college rankings is flushed out by Columbia University at #8 (91), the University of Chicago tied at #8, and then Duke University down at #10 (score of 90). Some other universities that appear on the list include Notre Dame at #20 (78), Georgetown at #23 (74) and USC at #24 (73).

The US News college rankings 2010 list seems a tad inconclusive when they cannot pick a clear #1, whether it be Harvard or Princeton that gets the top spot in the rankings. The list also tends to favor the Ivy League schools, but some feel that is should, as these are supposed to be the best Universities in the country. Any way you look at the list, it is subjective, and one of the reasons that Forbes Magazine has started coming up with their own list in order to compete with U.S. News.

The UofA is all the way down at #102, Arizona State is #121 and NAU isn't even ranked! Makes Arizona look bad, lol.
