US Senate Iowa Vote: Roxanne Conlin Over Chuck Grassley

New Leadership Needed

JUNEANN REED
Iowa women are coming out in full force, hoping to push one of Iowa's leading women Democrats to win the Senate seat, beginning with the Iowa U.S. primary on June 8. Understanding that Roxanne Conlin has defied a variety of forces; she and her staff are determined to move forward. Her successes include wins over huge corporations such as Microsoft. In the same manner she works for the common people of Iowa in need of a lawyer and goes to bat for them when they are put down.

Volunteers work night and day telling Conlin's story of how she's helped women who've been raped - to farmers who've lost the family farm because of greedy and powerful people.

Her supporters and volunteer cheering section know the facts. They know that many people of Iowa feel that Chuck Grassley, Conlin's Republican opponent, has been in Washington for decades. Yes, decades too long. Even though he serves on powerful committees, Iowans are realizing that they need new and strong leadership in Washington. Leadership that will step up to the plate with the current needs of all people.

Conlin ran for Governor of Iowa in the 80s and lost to former Governor Terry Branstand. She heard many men say they would vote for anyone - but not a woman. We wonder if ideas and attitudes have changed since the 80s.

She grew up in a poor family and understands needs of women and men who would otherwise fall through the cracks. No fight is too big for her to dig in and get to the bottom of the problem.

Conlin's volunteer supporters urge all Iowans to get out and vote - vote for Roxanne. I know, as a woman of Iowa, that Conlin will leave no stone unturned. She will promote more jobs, better jobs, better living conditions for women and men who have lost businesses and retirement funds because of the poor economy. She will not give up, even under overwhelming odds, and will help anyone who's been fired because of not playing the games of the "old boy" system.

The battle is on! Look out if you're involved in crime, corruption or a giant corporation that thinks it can win by greed and by lying. It won't work with Roxanne Conlin on your back. She is a strong woman who is not afraid to take on the biggest and "the best" in order to speak out for those who are unable to do so for themselves.

Conlin could be a magnifying force in one of the Nation's largest cities, but she chooses to live in Des Moines and continue to add new milestones to her work record. She seeks to serve on committees and is often selected as one of the top women in the country to serve in matters of justice. She continues to be first - such as one of the first women in the Inner Circle of Advocates and President of the American Association of Justice.

The people of Iowa are encouraged to step up to the plate, go to their voting booths and send Roxanne to Washington. Middle of the road politics will work no longer. The country is living through an era where big corporations of men sitting at computers doing unsavory things are playing as leaders. It's time for the playing to be over. If you attend any of the events supporting Roxanne Conlin for office of the U.S. Senate, you will learn that first hand.

Bob Krause, former State Representative and Thomas Fiegen, former State Senator, Democrats running against Conlin are fine men. However, their resumes and name recognition do not match that of Conlin.

Iowans can get out and vote now - prior to the June 8 Primary date. According to many pole results - the race is on!

Too bad she uses the way ins and outs to avoid paying her state income taxes.
