U.S. Stimulus Package: Questions for Big Government Spenders

Spending Our Way Out of Our Problems

Matt
Riddle me this...

Why are we able to afford to spend money on environmental studies, but not on teaching basic literacy to our own children? If we cannot afford the wars overseas, why are we still funding Cold War bases without sending those nations a bill for bailing their nations out for the past century?

How can we afford to mandate union wages in contracts, when twice as many people can be employed at half those union wages? Why are we allowing environmentalist lawsuits funded by government agencies when the result is water turned off to farms in California, throwing thousands of farm workers out of work?

If we can't afford drugs for our own elderly, how can we afford drugs for Africans with AIDS? If we must have food stamps for those who cannot afford food, how can we afford farm subsidies to farmers to keep food prices high?

If we have thousands of bridges in desperate need of repair here, why are we supposed to pay Palestinians to build up their infrastructure? If we have women without prenatal healthcare here, why are we giving the Chinese money to terminate their own kids?

If we have kids in this country who graduate school without being able to read, why are we buying new textbooks for Iraqi kids? Why are we paying the Palestinian (so called) Authority's "police" to supposedly secure their country from terrorists when we don't have money to properly supply our own troops?

Why can we afford a retirement home for research chimpanzees but not tax refunds for more families with houses? Why can we afford research on women's arousal but not new antibiotics to fight MRSA that could save their children's' lives?

Why are we seeking to give socialized medicine for free to citizens while taxing citizens at even higher rates to pay for it? How can we afford to buy up private land and take it off the tax rolls as nature reserves but we can't afford lower property taxes?

How can we afford to advertise government agencies like USPS abroad but we can't afford to hire competent people at the IRS to actually collect taxes? How can we afford to bail out failing businesses but not tax reductions to businesses that are succeeding?

Why are we rewarding those who bought more home than they could reasonably afford, and asking those who are reasonable to pay for it? Why are we seeking to give illegal aliens amnesty and free permission to work when there are millions of American citizens unable to find jobs?

Time to wake up people.
