Swimming Star Natalie Coughlin is Known as the World's Most Versatile Swimmer
Natalie Coughlin holds 17 American world records, 11 University of California records, 7 NCAA records, and 6 world records in a variety of swimming categories. She holds 12 NCAA titles, the second most in NCAA history.
In the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Coughlin brought home five medals - two gold, two silver, and one bronze. The notoriety earned her appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the Late Show with David Letterman, and the Today Show. Natalie Coughlin has also been featured in Vogue, Glamour, and Vanity Fair. Natalie Coughlin also boasts an endorsement contract with Speedo.
At the 2004 Olympic Games, Natalie Coughlin became the first woman to swim the 100-meter backstroke in under a minute.
Natalie Coughlin's charity work includes the Children's Hospital & Research Center Foundation. Natalie Coughlin also co-authored a book with Michael Silver entitled Golden Girl: How Natalie Coughlin Fought Back, Challenged Conventional Wisdom, and Became American's Olympic Champion.
Natalie Coughlin earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of California. She presently lives in Berkeley, California with her dog, which ironically dislikes the water, and is training for the 2008 Olympic Games.
