USA Didn't Take the Gold in Olympic Hockey but Pittsburgh Did

David Lindberg
What an amazing event of athletics on ice occurred as the USA Hockey Team gave their all to tie Canada in the last 24 seconds of what looked like an expected win for the Canadian team. Most of the game seemed to be an even match and one in which only the team that relentlessly kept trying harder, had the advantage at any particular moment in the game. In such a hockey game, it always seems to come down to the goalie being at his absolute best, constantly. If a goalie relaxes for a second, it means defeat.

As it seemed to be just too much of an evenly matched game and as the Canadian team had the 2 - 1 lead into the final moments of the game, the USA Team never gave up and pushed for the tying score, which meant this was a whole new game and anyone could win.

Not very long into the overtime, the captain of the NHL, Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team who lead his team to win the Stanley Cup Championship the previous year did what he does best. Sidney Crosby scored the winning goal for his native Canadian team and his home country fans.

People in the USA City of Pittsburgh, PA although mostly cheering for the USA Team had Pittsburgh Penguin team members on both USA and Canadian teams. While watching the overtime efforts of both teams, when it was Sid Crosby, their home team captain score the winning goal, Pittsburgh fans could cheer for their favorite loved Penguin.

The USA Team may have not won gold in the Olympics, but Pittsburgh, PA DID win!

What an amazing historic event and close to the Olympic games of 2010, for both the USA champions and the host country of Canada, the USA's favorite neighbors.
