Fans from all over the country have truly made this a national day. In some areas it is truly a big day. Louisiana has their "Bayou Bash Recruiting Party, where fans pay $15 and they get to eat and watch as LSU signs on their new players.
Colleges and Universities dispense large sums of money into providing their coaches all the resources necessary in order to attract some of the best high school players in the country to play for their school's team.
The coaches for the Trojans from the University of Southern California, really outdid themselves this year, as they signed on some really fantastic players.
1. Jarvis Jones - a four-star Linebacker for the state of Georgia
2. Jawanja Starling - a four-star Safety from the state of Florida
3. Frankie Telfort - a five-star Outside Linebacker, also from the state of Florida. In an article written by Zack Lebatto for USCfootball.com, "As wide receiver, Moore had 40 receptions for 733 yards, and eight touchdowns in 2008. On defense, the Rivals 100 selection had 25 tackles and three interceptions." Frankie Telfort checked out several different colleges before making his final decision on the Trojans and the University of Southern California.
To help you better understand the meaning of the "Star" rating:
5 stars - one of the nation's top 25-39 players
4 stars - on of the top 250-300
3 stars - in the top 750
2 stars - player is a mid-major prospect
The Trojans have had only 3 loosing seasons since 1961, have landed 35 Pac-10 titles, has appeared 44 times in Bowl games and have won 28 of those games. They have had 30 appearances in the Rose Bowl and won 21 of those games. Seven Trojans have won the Heisman Trophy, and 28 have earned an induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. Through 2005 USC has had 65 first-round NFL Draft picks, and a Trojan has played in all but two Super Bowls through 2006. With these new players, Jarvis Jones, Jawanja Starling and Frankie Telfort; the Trojans and USC are sure to have another winning year next season.
