ART
Oriental wall art can have colorful themes and showcase history. Dragons, Pagodas, and Asian landscapes make great pictures to put on the wall. At Target.com you can get some Oriental Symbols as well as art with Asian flower themes like Blossoms or Irises. The frames should be bamboo or lacquered red or black wooden frames to give it that soft look.
FLOOR LAMPS
Floor lamps can be a great Asian accessory if added in the correct space. This lamp at Walmart.com would look great standing next to some wall art or even an Asian tri-fold divider. Some floor lamps are simple in design, but stand out in the right atmosphere. Try this Kyoto Floor Lamp from Walmart.com or this Paper Shade Lamp and matching Paper Shade Table Lamp which can add a lantern look to your room.
PILLOWS
Pillows? Yes, pillows are inexpensive ways to colorize your Asian theme and can be a quick addition to an already planned theme. Choose pillows that are reds, blacks, and golds, or any combination thereof. Stay away for ornately and gaudy decorated pillows, especially ones that have some sort of trim on them. No tassles, no fringe, and nothing made of any material that can crinkle.
INDOOR WATER FOUNTAINS
The relaxing sound of water can sooth the stressful of persons, but it can also be the one Asian accessory that brings your entire room together. You can find indoor water fountains at craft stores, major retailers, and flower shops. If you go to a landscaping store, it's possible that a small enough outdoor fountain could fit right in to your room. At Target.com, check out some of these indoor water fountains.
ROOM DIVIDERS
Shoji Screens, or room dividers, at Oriental Furniture.com are great Asian accessories that can be set anywhere in a room. You don't necessarily have to hide anything with the screen. You can leave it semi-folded open and stick in a corner or in front of any door that may be in your room like a closet or an under the stairs storage place. There are many styles to choose from and can range from Venetian to Swedish to dividers with prints on them. Becoming even more popular are the screens where you can place different-sized photos on one side.
You don't have to spend a fortune to get that Oriental look. By adding a few Asian accessories of a colorful and Asian-themed, you can make that room feel warm and soft in no time.
