Use the Holiday Season as a Time of Goodwill Toward Mankind

Janet Roof
The holiday season is a time for family and friends to unite for a week or two of happy festivities. Many people find the holidays to be the most depressing and lonely time of the year.

Numerous individuals have not had the experience of enjoying a glass of eggnog while toasting to their many accomplishments. If having a large family, or a vast gathering of friends is what a person needs to celebrate, and truly have a good holiday experience I find it hard to believe that anyone actually has fun during the holidays.
Most people eat their meals all alone on a daily basis. The majority of society has experienced being completely alone in a room full of people.

A number of relatives make it a point to make life miserable for everyone else, especially around the holidays. Understanding why it is so difficult for people to do nice things for one-another during the holidays seems to be one of life's little mysteries.

It really does not take a great deal of effort to make up for all the torture and neglect that has been bestowed throughout the year. When just picking up the phone or sending a greeting card can make all the difference in the world.

Sitting around thinking of ways to avoid doing things for, or talking to the people you don't want to be bothered with, takes up more energy then saying or doing something nice for those same people.

Christmas is not just about religion. It is more of goodwill toward mankind, sort of thing. Taking the time to think about all of the things that we normally take for granted, such as, being able to walk out to the mailbox in the rain instead of bitching about having too, or complaining about how much you hate standing in the long holiday lines at the mall.

There are people who don't have the money to purchase food for their families, what about them? So no matter haw bad you think you have it just remember there are plenty of people who have it much worse then you do.

So around the Holiday Season try to find something to be grateful for and smile a little easier. I am sure that you will fall fast asleep with a clear conscience and a happy heart.
