Use YouTube to Promote Your Business

Did you know that YouTube and other video sites like it are the perfect place to advertise your business? All you need to do is create viral videos, ones that everyone wants and will add to their Web sites, and you have the perfect publicity medium.

There are three ways to use YouTube as a promotional device. We will go over each of them briefly in this article, then it is up to you to put them to use.

When you set up your profile for YouTube, you can add a Web site. I would suggest making this your business site. Every time you put up a video that grabs someone's attention and they want to see more, your Web site will be clicked on. This works, no matter what type of videos you have up, business related or not.

To make your Web site most effective, it is a good idea to create a separate business account on YouTube where you can place only videos that relate in some way, shape or form to your business. This will get you even more traffic and make you more credible. For example, if you have a cookware store, some cooking videos showing your products being used would be ideal.

Another way to promote your business is to embed your Web site URL right into the video. This way, if someone else mashes the video to their Web site or blog, your site is still right there in front of the viewer. This can get rather irritating if not done correctly, so keep the URL fairly small and don't stick it in the middle of the screen where it will block something that viewers want to see.

Last, but not least, is to make a video based on your business, where you show various aspects of your business and mention the name. For example, you might set up a video on how to organize display shelves in your store. You would show how you do this, with your products and your business name right there on the video. Showing a Web site URL at the end, or location is just natural.

Videos are becoming more and more popular and since YouTube is free, it's a great way to get some low cost publicity. Make sure you offer quality content and you'll find yourself getting more clicks than you expected! And don't stop with YouTube, there are dozen more video sites out there, like MetaCafe and Google Video, that can also be used for promotional purposes.
