Used Treadmills - Good or Bad Idea?

Terry Edwards
There is no doubt that looking at treadmill prices can be a little surprising if you had no previous idea on their prices. The fact is that a good treadmill will cost you more than those you see at Wal-Mart. For this reason many turn to buying a used treadmill. But is this your best idea?

If you are planning on buying a new treadmill you can expect to pay $750-$2000 for a good quality model that will last for years to come and can be used for both walking and running. Models in the $200-$500 range are cheap and will not give you any longevity whatsoever.

A used treadmill that originally cost $1200 can often be found for half of that price on the used market. The key though will be how old it is and how much has it been used? It's really no different than finding a good used car, sometimes you will often find an excellent one being sold by someone who rarely used it.

Used treadmills can be found in a number of different places. You can find them in the classified section of your local paper, garage sales, and used sporting goods retailers.

Another place to find a used treadmill is online. Sites such as eBay, Craigslist and others will have all types of ads for treadmills. You really need to be careful if you buy used online at one of these sites. It can be easy to fall to a disreputable seller.

In addition to not knowing the seller, you also do not get to see the treadmill in person. Unless you live nearby you will get only a picture to go by.

Buying a used treadmill has obvious benefits to it. You can save a lot of money and have a machine that could last for years. The key is to be very careful and do your due diligence.
