Useful Information to Make a Copper Wire Chain

Here is some useful information to teach you how to make a copper wire chain.

Follow the steps below:

First you should determine how big you want your chain rings to be. A good size to use is 18 gauge copper wire. Depending on what you are going to use the chain for you may want a higher or lower gauge.

Next you need to get your tools out. Tools you will need are: flush or wire cutters, a rod to wrap the wire around (monkey wrenches work fine), and pliers.

To begin you will need to cut a length of your copper wire and wrap it around your rod in a tight coil. This may take some getting used to, it helps to clamp the wire onto the rod with your pliers and twist it around. After you get a coil of a nice length you slide it off the rod and get out your cutters. You are going to cut down the coil making copper rings. It's a good idea do have a container to put them into so you don't lose them.

After you have a good amount of rings you need to interlace them. Start by closing one of the rings with your pliers. After you have a closed ring, take another ring and open it and interlace the two. Close the second ring and repeat the process until your chain is as long as you want it to be.
