Useful Ways to Recycle Dishwasher Tablet Containers

Angela Kimball
It seems that most households these days have a dishwasher. If you are lucky enough to own a dishwasher, then you are probably putting your dishwasher to good use. With each time you run the dishwasher, you must add some type of detergent to get those dishes sparkling clean. If you purchase dishwasher tablets you undoubtedly have noticed that they are available in handy and convenient plastic containers. Such plastic containers are perfect for storing the dishwasher tablets and keeping them free from moisture, but can you do anything else with those convenient containers after the dishwasher tablets are long gone?

Different styles of containers are available when you purchase the dishwasher tablets. The assorted soaps and brands have their own type and style of container. This may also vary depending on the amount of tablets inside.

My two favorite varieties of dishwasher tablets have two completely different types of containers. One container is an oval shape at the top and is reminiscent of a tiny flip-top trash can. The other is shaped like a cube and has a lid that opens from the top at the front.

You can put these dishwasher tablet containers to good use around your home by storing your loose items. If you have tons of stray items around the house, these containers won't end up out in the landfill, but will be recycled for use in your own home.

Bathroom

The bathroom always seems to have small items floating around on the counter or in the medicine chest. Dishwasher tablet containers can remedy such issues quickly and effectively. For instance, use the smaller, oval container to store Q-tips or cotton balls. The larger square container is just the right size to store travel-sized soaps and shampoos handy for your next trip. After thoroughly washing the containers, utilize them for storing your extra contacts, flossers, or assorted bandages.

Baby

The dishwasher tablet containers are great for baby's things. A small container of Vaseline and cotton balls will fit nicely inside the square container. Remove the lid of the oval container and use it to store safety pins and a tube of diaper rash cream.

If you can never put your hands on the spare bottle rings, nipples, or covers, then store them inside the square dishwasher tablets container. This will keep them free from dust and dirt, as well as, ready and handy when you need them.

Office

Removing the lid from the oval container will create the perfect pencil holder for your office. I store my children's pencil erasers and pencil grips inside one of the dishwasher tablet containers at my desk. Skip the expensive desk organizer and recycle your dishwasher tablet containers instead.

Kitchen

Searching for your plastic silverware? Keep them organized with a container. Stand them up on end neatly inside the oval container mentioned above. You will not only be recycling, but save yourself the time of hunting around in a crowded drawer to find what you need.

Do you tend to hold onto those packets of ketchup and sauces you get when you eat out? Utilize the square dishwasher tablet container to keep all of the condiments in one place. This will make packing your lunch much easier in the morning.

Pets

Don't forget Fido or Fluffy. Toss a few treats inside the clean container and stash them around the house. You will always have a pet treat ready when your pet masters that trick you have been working on together. Toss a small treat or two in the car with this handy idea for the next time you and your furry friend are out on the road together.

Don't just toss your trash the next time the dishwasher tablet container is empty. Once the soap is all used up, give new life to the container. After washing the container and allowing it to dry you have a handy container to use in many ways around the house.
