I checked to see what the most searched-for terms where and here are the top five: Modern Love, Obama, Health, China and Korea. These were the top five in the last 24-hour period. Some others were Sex and the City followed by oil prices. Quite a combo here.
So this now brings us to "Are you what you search for?" I have searched the following words and here's what I was sent to:
Writing
Once the mouse was clicked, it took me to a page loaded with names like writing.com, Wikipedia, and the like. It's useful, but once you start clicking again, you don't know where you will end up.
Sandwich
I then searched for new ideas for lunch. When I typed in "Sandwich," I got "Salad Songs?" Along with Wikipedia, Historic Sandwiches and more.
Horned Toads
Then I checked out "Horned Toads." Wow, I never knew so many sites existed on this subject. It even has a site called "Horny Toad Store Direct."
Auto Insurance
Here's one that I think we have all tried, "Auto Insurance" So many popped up my mind was boggled. All stating "low cost, affordable or Quotes" After giving the pertinent information to at least two companies, I was lead to another page that said they would call me. If I had wanted a call, I would have called you, right?
Employment took me to Career Builder, Hot jobs and Monster, all which require you to upload a resume and join. Here again you are putting your personal information out there for anyone to see.
Now after doing this, I would have to say that I am what I search for. I love to eat, have a love for all critters, am currently out of work and am always looking for a better deal.
But what about when you get taken to sites against your will? How many times have you clicked on one thing and been re-directed to something off the wall? Maybe a porn site? Then you try to get out and the only way is by shutting down and restarting. We have had this happen a couple of times, So knowing this, We have started to be very very careful as to where we click. Having a mouse these days is just like pointing a gun if you don't know your target, don't click.

Post a CommentNice take on this!!!!!!!!!
Interesting take. I would rather teach kids what to do when they come across something questionable rather than take the Internet away from them. There are far more dangerous concerns for children than the Internet. JMHO :-)
