User Guide for Ad-Aware 2007 Pro

Ad-Aware 2007 Pro has all the features to help you avoiding spyware. It stops spyware in your entire computer. All you need to do is set up the suitable settings.

Comparing with Ad-Aware SE Professional, Ad-Aware 2007 Pro has more new tools like "Connect", "Host File Editor"... If you have used the old version, using Ad-Aware 2007 Pro must be very easy for you.

Ad-Aware 2007 Pro has a very friendly appearance. "Status" field displays information about update, current version, number of recognized spyware, the last updated date, the last scanned day and real-time protection (is enabled or not). On the left side, you will see the menu of Ad-Aware 2007 pro. The "Statistics and Log Files" section provide information about the condition of your system and the information about the last scanned time.

The Pro version of Ad-Aware 2007 has three scanning mode: Smart Scan, Full Scan and Custom Scan. With the "Custom Scan", you have to click "Configure" and choose what part you want to scan: registry, cookies, hijacker... If you want to examine your system fast, you should choose "Smart Scan". However, I recommend you to use "Full Scan" at least once a week. To start scanning process, click "scan" and pick which mode you want.

Normally, when the program detects a suspected program, you should choose "Quarantine". After the scanning process is done, you can check "Quarantine & Ignore" section to choose the way to treat them. You can also set up a schedule to scan your system and create system restore point.

Ad-Watch:

Ad-Watch defends your system against spyware and malware. It is always in your system tray. By clicking on its icon, you can activate Ad-Watch's four functions.

1. RegShield: protects your registry like Windows Startup, Internet Explorer, Windows Scripts...

2. Processes: manages all of the applications running on your desktop. This will search suspected "process" for Trojan and keylogger.

3. Connect: manages application connecting to the Internet.

4. TrackSweep: delete all of the cookies, URL... without any trace. This only supports Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera.

Process Watch:

This function is similar to "Processes" function of Ad-Watch. However, it has more features. Process Watch provides you information about CPU, link and memory usage of your processes. Therefore, you can manage the entire applications. You can close the unused one by clicking "Terminate".

Host File Editor:

This feature will help you to manage your Internet. Host File Editor locks all advertisement in website and restores the files that were changed by malware and spyware.

To add new entry, right click on a blank space and pick "Add new entry". Double click the Hostname or IP and fill in the information. You should write note about the IP in "Comment" section. You can also do this by Import/Export.

Settings:

The Settings section in Ad-Aware 2007 allows you to choose your default homepage and search engine. There are many options for you to choose in Scanning and AutoScan tab. "User Interface" tab allows you to choose language, color... "Log Files" tab allow you to check Ad-Aware 2007 Pro action. Also, do not forget to set up auto-update feature.

The license fee for Ad-Aware 2007 Pro is about $40. However, this is a full-protection for you against malicious programs.
