I also personally switched from a Windows machine to the Mac a few years ago and I found that the transition was very difficult because web browsing for the Mac was not very good at all. It was often difficult to use and very hard to understand in browsers such as Safari and Firefox and this has often discouraged many users. That is until the recent release of the new browser Opera 10.52 for the Mac but this browser will help restore functionality to web browsing on Apple computers especially for new users switching over from Windows. I love the unique featues of Opera which include the speed dial featue that allows you to store favorite websites and navigate to them with one click. I also love their multi touch capability that allows you to scroll through history by pinching your fingers and zoom in and out on pictures by placing your fingers together or apart. There is also the ability to use three figures to go forward and back in your history based on touch finger gestures and this feature works without flaw in my experience. Best of all Opera is free to download here
Opera 10.52 works with Apple's Tiger operating system and this is great because it allows millions of users to access a browser that were previously unable to surf the web. Additional new features of Opera 10.52 include a tabs list option that will provide you with the ability to keep track of all open websites and restore those that you have closed.
There is also multi touch ability that will allows me to motion with my fingers and pinch to scroll through my history and viewing of webpages. You can also use widgets from the browser that can be saved to your desktop and they will operate independent of the browser. You will have the ability to store and use them as you wish simply by clicking them on the desktop as if they were applications on your computer. All of these features are new to this version for the Mac and they were valuable because it allows previous Windows users to feel at home just as they have done for me. The ability to multi touch on the trackpad gives browsing the same feel as it does on the iPhone and I personally love that. Websites also load a lot faster than any other browser I have used and Opera 10.52 has a new sync feature that allows you to save your browser history and favorites to your iPhone and this just makes the Internet easier than ever for users. I was able to sync my bookmarks easily to my iPhone and I love the speed of this browser.
