However, the disadvantage of LimeWire Pro is it would take a lot of time to search. If you are not a patient person, you may want to try LimeWire Turbo, another edition of LimeWire. LimeWire Turbo is only about 9.30 MB of your system resource. With that file size, LimeWire Turbo can provide result much faster than LimeWire Pro. As I experience, LimeWire Turbo searches four times faster than LimeWire Pro. The program is compatible with all versions of Windows, Mac OSX and Linux. Be notice that LimeWire Turbo can only run with Java Runtime environment (you can download Java here).
In the first time running the program, you have to set up a few settings. A "Save Folder" dialog will appear. Click "Browse" and locate where you want to download the files into (the default folder is C:Documents and SettingsusernameShared). Click "Next". In "Connection Speed" dialog, you have to choose the speed of your internet connection. There are four options: Modem, Cable/DSL, T1, T3 or Higher. Choose the suitable connection speed and click "Next". In "System Startup" dialog, mark "Start Automatically" if you want LimeWire Turbo to be in the system tray every time. In the next "Firewall Warning", you should choose "Unblock" to prevent Windows Firewall from locking the program. However, be aware that you could be vulnerable to virus with the downloaded files. In "Scan for Files" dialog, choose "Yes" if you want the program to scan your system and share information. Click "Finish" to go to the main window of LimeWire Turbo.
The main appearance of LimeWire Turbo is very similar to LimeWire Pro. In order to speed up the searching process, instead of choosing "All Types", you should choose a specific file types: Audio, Images, Video, Documents or Programs. Type in the keyword you want to search in "Filename" blank. In order to have an exact result, you should also fill in sub-categories (for example, with audio file, you should also type in "Artist" and "Genre"). Click "Search". LimeWire Turbo will display the result within seconds. It took me only about fifteen seconds to find 642 different results to download the song "Who Said You Can't Go Home" by Bon Jovi with different quality and length (I am using DSL). I can even find the video clip. You only have to choose the file you want to download and click on the "Download" sign. The file on the top of the list will have a faster download rate.
After the file is downloaded, you can use Media Player to try it right in LimeWire Turbo. Right click on the file and choose "Launch". You can click "Back to Search" to come back to the main appearance of LimeWire Turbo and search for another files. You can download LimeWire free here.
