Rather than being trapped into the same job that you presently have, you could use these skills that you are looking to develop to actually help you to obtain a new job. Trying to determine how 3D graphics work is actually useful for many people is important to try to figure out the right companies that you could approach about work, both as a potential employee or as a freelance professional.

Trying to establish a new career is always difficult, however the world of 3D graphics makes it extremely easy to actually get started because you can create objects, animations and textures for the objects that will all clearly demonstrate to a potential employer exactly what your capabilities really are. By being able to provide potential employers with some very specific examples, you will find that it is much easier to get a job because they are not simply relying on the information that you have set forth in your resume.

Unfortunately, because the world of 3D graphics is highly competitive it can still take a bit of time, but knowing the programs before applying for a job is certainly helpful. Many other movies are also created using this type of software and the movie industry is almost always hiring for one project or another.

Your biggest task will be trying to decide if you are interested in doing freelance work, or if you would rather instead focus on actually finding typical employment. If you are unsure about which option to go with, you might find that it is a good idea to keep all options open until you are able to finally make a lasting decision that you are satisfied with. Many 3D graphics artists work primarily with a single company and then do a bit of freelance work on the side if the workload starts to shrink to a level that it is no longer covering their bills, or if a special project comes along that they are extremely interested in.
