Using 43Things.com To Promote and Generate AC Content

and Reach Some Other Goals While You Are at It

D. S. Ploshay
I stumbled upon a site called 43 Things after googling "paid to write". I did not find a paid writing opportunity, but I did find a treasure:

I found a posting for people who wanted to be paid to write at some point in their lives.

Soon after I realized what this entire site was about, I found myself helping others achieve their goals by pasting links to my AC articles.

What is 43Things.com?

43Things.com is a website dedicated to helping people reach goals. The idea behind it was that people are more likely to achieve goals if they are written. They randomly chose 43. The website challenges people to make a list of their own goals. Then, they can connect with others who have similar goals or with people who have done that particular feat and get advice. It organizes the goals, reminds people of them and allows for lots of networking.

How does 43Things.com work?

People register for an account (free!) and can set up a profile with picture, if you want. The homepage is filled with goals in all different sizes- pretty cool layout. If you see something you want to do or have done, you can click on, "I want to do this" or "I have done this."

If you choose that you want to do something, you can get reminders as often as you want. You can also add comments to it.

If you choose that you have done this, you can rate it "worth doing" or "not worth doing." Then, you can also share insight and upload photos-AND LINKS.

Which leads me to.....

How can 43Things.com help an AC CP?

After seeing that so many people wanted to be paid to write, I added that "I have done this," that "It is worth it" and then added some ideas, along with my AC referral link. Then it hit me. I just had a skydiving article published on AC and saw that skydiving was a goal for thousands of people. I did the same thing, added the link to the AC skydiving story saying that the article I wrote was a good way to see what to expect on the first jump, and I even uploaded the photo!

This is what I wrote- simple, but with a bold, clickable link to my content:

You do not feel like you are falling- totally rocks. I wrote about my experience, which can really help you learn what to expect: Click here to read about it! Good luck!!

So:

--Search for goals on 43Things.com that are similar to what you are an expert in, or have content in.

--Say you have done it or want to do it.

--Write a quick blurb with a link and maybe the same photo you used for your story on AC.

--you can also comment people with a link, which I did for two people on the writing goal page

--Another idea is to add your own goals to the site based on things you have content about.

--Be consistent-- I signed up with the same username as AC so the name would be recognizable between the two sites.

--Finally, you can get ideas for content. I added "get a tattoo" as a goal and see that 9005 other people have that goal. That's popular! AC does have content in this area, but see what else people are talking about!

One more thing-aside from writing, (most) AC content producers have other hobbies, goals, wishes and dreams. Use 43Things.com as a way to improve your own goals! Win-Win! Or, without looking for content views, you can really help someone!

So, 43Things.com cannot only help generate page views and develop content ideas, but also help us reach other goals.

I'm anxious to see how this works - gotta do a sinkload of dishes - read 20 articles from reciprocal friends - start a load of laundry plus 40 other things I don't have space to name and then I'm off to adventure at 43Things! Great Idea - thanks for the info!

I've got an account on there. They also have 43 places for where you want to go, and where you've been, and people asking what certain places are like. That would be good for people who do travel articles.
