Using Article Wizard Software to Rewrite Articles

Is This Laziness or Plagiarism?

I was doing some research for another article when I ran across something I had not seen before. Article rewriting software. Writing as I do, I have certainly heard of rewriting articles, but I had not been aware that there was software to help you do it.

I looked at a couple of these programs, and downloaded two of them. I played around with them, and frankly I think they are overrated.

I took an article I had written, and ran it through this program, Article Editor 2.0. I told it to replace synonyms, and got something rather strange out of it. Here is an example of the before and after of a couple of sentences after using this program.

Before:

Living on the west coast I have spent a lot of time on beaches. For some time now I have watched people walking by with metal detectors thinking, "What a waste of time."

After:

Living on the west coast I accept spent a clutch of time on beaches. For some case thanks to I have watched people moving by with metal detectors thinking, "What a waste of time."

What?

This is supposed to save you time so you can rewrite articles and make a lot of money? I don't think so.

Another program, Power Article Rewriter, I have not quite figured out how to use. You plug the article in to the bottom panel, and you select words, and you get a list of possible synonyms, most of which would be nonsense if you placed them into the article. I watched an online demonstration f how to use the program, and still don't quite get it.

There are only two of the many programs available out there in cyber space. There may be some that actually work. The ones I downloaded and tried are freeware or shareware. I have seen some out there that you can purchase for up to $67.00.

Article rewriting begs the ethical question. Is rewriting someone else's article ripping them off? Is it plagiarism? Even if you are rearranging their words, and replacing synonyms, you are not doing the research yourself.

Using software to find and replace the synonyms is doing the same thing in my opinion. This software is questionable at best, at worst it may be giving someone who can figure out how to use it a cheap and easy way to take an article from the internet that someone has taken time to research, write, and distribute and bastardizing it for profit.

I have no doubt that the intent of the software may have been to help writers reedit their own work to make it better and get the keyword density o a better level, but people who are less than ethical can use it for nefarious purposes.
