Using CCleaner to Clean Your Crap!

Anonymous
The tool called CCleaner (short for Crap Cleaner) is more than just a registry cleaner. After using this program for months, and fiddling with its features, I have found that it is incredibly useful for computer users. It could be called one of the best registry fix programs for Windows-based computers out there.
I believe an important piece of any program is the interface, and CCleaner has a great one. Simplicity is often the key to creating user friendly programs and I'm letting you know that virtually anyone that consistently searches the net will be able to use this nifty cleaner. The layout is very simple and well-designed with sleek panels and easy to read fonts. You don't even need instructions because the interface makes CCleaner self explanatory and straight forward.

CCleaner is primarily marketed as a registry cleaner, so we will begin there. You can quickly and efficiently do a scan of your registry for any problems. When you click on the "Registry" tab, you are faced with a registry integrity menu, which contains a list of all know registry problems that currently infest computers worldwide. You can select which problems to scan for ranging from missing shortcut paths to obsolete software, allowing you to customize your scan each time. Generally, it is probably best to leave all items selected and run a thorough scan to identify any issues with your registry. Don't worry; this process doesn't take long at all.
After your scan is completed and you select "Fix selected issues...," CCleaner will then ask you if you want to automatically create a backup of your registry file. It is definitely a good idea to do this because you never know what could happen. The user has complete control over what registry problems CCleaner fixes, making this tool a powerful cleaning agent.

In addition to its job function of a registry cleaner, CCleaner can also provide a useful sweep of unused or unwanted files. After you click the "Cleaner" tab, various areas are selected to be swept. You can check or uncheck these areas as you see fit and then run the cleaner. It will then compile a report for you to see how much can be cleaned with this session, if you accept, the action will be performed. What is great is the report is compiled before the cleaning takes place, which allows you to view what will be cleaned and make any necessary changes if you don't want to clean something. This is great because this wipes out your web browser cache and other unwanted documents to free up space and increase your computer speed.

You can also select some areas in the "Advanced" menu if you know what you are doing, or click over to the "Applications" tab and select which applications to thoroughly scan and clean.

Under the "Tools" tab, you can easily uninstall the various programs you have installed on your computer and select which ones will automatically start when Windows boots up. This is a great tool to use if your computer takes a while to start-up because of all the programs it has to load.
The VERY best aspect of CCleaner is that it is absolutely free. You can download it from FileHippo or Download.com and make this a permanent resident on your desktop for nothing at all.

I must say that with all these features and a $0 price tag, I will be keeping and using CCleaner for a very long time.
