Using Dried Flowers for Your Wedding Boutonniers

Susan Brown
Did you know that you can successfully use dried varieties of flowers to accent your special day? It's true! While most brides wouldn't want to go all dried flowers, they may want to accent their fresh floral arrangements with the dried. Just how can this be done specifically when it comes to the boutonnieres?

Use dried when making your own. It can save you a lot of money by doing your own flowers at your wedding instead of letting some floral shop do them for you. You can easily order hundreds of roses online to be delivered a couple of days before your wedding, and if you have reliable help you can make your own arrangements very easily. But when you need flowers to accent, say, roses, then you can save a lot of hassle by just ordering them dry. That way you don't have to worry about availability, freshness, etc.

There are a nice variety of dried flowers you can choose from. Perhaps you are going with fresh roses - why not accent it with dried baby breath or another dried variety of small pink flower? Tiny flowers like this, when dried, can look great mixed with fresh flowers when it comes to boutonnieres.

Should you use only dried flowers as the boutonniere? This is not exactly recommended, but you could go with a single half-open fresh rose, and when putting the boutonniere together you can add a sprig of perhaps English Statice or Baby's Breath. Websites like driedflowersdirect.com have really reasonable prices and very pretty flowers to choose from. You can also order dried lavender flowers, which look really great and could possibly be used on their own as a boutonniere especially for a mother-of-the-bride or other female in the wedding.

So, go ahead and pick out the website you want to order from - say, perhaps my favorite which is www.driedflowersdirect.com, browse through all the varieties that are available and make sure you like the prices offered, and go ahead and place your order as soon as possible! The earlier you order, the better - so that you can get that part of the process over with. Just make sure to store your dried flowers in a safe place until the big day, making sure they will not get crushed or dusty.

You are on your way to some really beautiful little boutonnieres, hand made, at your wedding!
