If you are new to using blogging software, you are probably wondering what enabling the themes are and what default themes are. It is very important that you understand what these are. Drupal is one of the blogging softwares that offer the enabling and default themes. So, we will focus on the Drupal software.
What is Enabling Themes?
Enabling themes is when you allow users to your site to choose which theme they want to view your site with. You can provide as many themes as you like. The users will be able to drop a box down and select the theme of their choice from the list of themes that you made available to them. However, you can choose to turn this option off. If you do not want the user to have control over the themes, you can turn the option off in your settings.
What is Default Themes?
The default theme is the main theme. This is the theme that visitors will see when they visit your Drupal site. If you have the option turned off where users can't change the theme, this is the theme that they will see at all times. Even if you have the option on, this is still the first theme that they will see until they change it.
How Do I Enable and Disable This Feature?
You will need to login to your Drupal admin panel. Then you will need to click the Site Building button in the menu on the left. In the sub-menu, you will need to click Themes. On the Themes page you will see a column that says Default and a column that says Enabled. Ticking the Enabled field beside themes will allow users to select the theme of their choice. That makes the feature enabled. To disable it, untick all of the Enabled fields. Then save your changes.
Setting the Default Theme
You can set the default theme by ticking the field beside the theme you want to use. You will need to tick the field in the Default column. You can only use one default theme at a time. To change the default theme, tick another theme and click the Save button.
So, you can only use one default theme, but you can use as many user themes as you want. You will need to click all of the themes you want to allow the users to use. If you do not know how to install Drupal Themes, please see this tutorial.
