Using Homeopathic Remedies For Acne

Using a homeopathic remedy for acne can be a lot less invasive as some of the chemicals found in most acne remedies. Whether it is adolescent acne or adult acne, a homeopathic remedy can be a treatment that aids the skin in healing itself without drying it out or added redness and itching. This is also a great alternative for people who may be allergic to some acne medicine ingredients.

The medical dictionary defines acne as a skin disorder that is caused by the inflammation of skin glands and hair follicles. Basically, acne happens in the sebaceous glands, found inside the skin, when the oil they produce gets stopped up by hair follicles, cause a black head pimple to form. If the pimple gets infected it will become puss filled. Acne generally happens in teenagers, but can follow them into adulthood.

When the medications suggested and prescribed by doctors and dermatologists have not worked they will suggest alternative options. These alternatives can include homeopathic remedies. The idea behind homeopathic remedies is that the symptoms a person is having are telling them what remedy is needed for healing.

Although homeopathic remedies are potentially safe, it is important, as with any alternative medicine, it seek the advice of a physician prior to and during treatment. Because outbreaks of acne can lead to scarring of the skin it is vital that you speak with a doctor if acne eruptions are serious. Itching can also lead to scarring, as well as deeper pimples.

One of the most common homeopathic remedies for acne comes from the Melaleuca tree. This medicine is typically referred to as Tea Tree oil. Tea Tree oil is antimicrobial, meaning it works against infections. This is why it is a good treatment for acne, which is considered a skin infection. It is also an antinflammatory, so it will help to reduce the swelling of the pimple.

Using tea tree oil for acne treatment is as easy as applying tea tree gel to the pimple, twice each day, leaving it on for twenty minutes before washing it off. It is safer to use mixtures that only contain about five percent tea tree, to insure side effects are minimal (as some people can be sensitive to this treatment), like rash and itching.

Other treatments that can be used against acne are:

Chaste tree- This herb helps to balance the hormones, which can help reduce teenage acne. Teenagers going through puberty can have a tendency to be prone to acne breakouts. The use of Chaste tree as a homeopathic remedy is also good for women who get acne during prior to their menstrual cycle (PMS- premenstrual syndrome). Chaste tree can be found in health food store and pharmacies in both tablet and capsule form.

Cleavers- If it is believed that the acne outbreaks are from a toxin in the system then Cleavers is the homeopathic remedy choice, as it detoxifies the blood and the lymphatic system. The dosage for Cleavers is 4g of the dried aerial parts of the plant infused in a tea.

Dandelion root- Dandelion root is cleansing and can aid in cleaning out the system, including the skin. Infusion dandelion root in a tea can, just like cleavers, help to clean out the blood and lymphatic system, clearing toxins and fats out of the system.

Nettle- The homeopathic remedy of nettle helps with the itch of acne. It is the leaf of the nettle plant that aids as an acne treatment.

Diet- The most natural way to treat acne using homeopathic remedies is by getting plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and avoiding too many dairy products. Raw foods help to keep the system clean of toxins and it helps to relieve the body of waste products faster. Dairy products can clog up mucous membranes, including the pores.
